You know what? I wasn’t expecting much when I first walked up to CHARM CHARM on To Ngoc Van street – honestly, the name had me a bit confused at first. But this little gem in Tay Ho completely surprised me. The whole vibe hits you right away: it’s this perfect blend of Vietnamese charm and modern comfort that doesn’t feel forced or touristy. I mean, you’re literally in the heart of one of Hanoi’s most authentic neighborhoods, where locals actually live and work, not just another hotel district.

The location is actually brilliant once you get your bearings. To Ngoc Van runs parallel to the Red River, so you’re getting that genuine Hanoi neighborhood feel without being stuck in the chaos of the Old Quarter. There’s this little coffee shop two doors down where the owner – Mr. Duc, I think – makes the most incredible ca phe sua da, and he’ll remember your order after the second day. The street itself gets busy during morning rush hour (around 7-8 AM), but evenings are surprisingly peaceful. You can actually hear the birds from the nearby trees, which sounds impossible in Hanoi but somehow works here. Walking to West Lake takes maybe 10 minutes, and honestly, those early morning or sunset walks became my favorite part of staying here.

What really got me was the attention to detail – and I’m talking about the stuff that actually matters when you’re traveling. The Wi-Fi works everywhere (tested it extensively while working from the small balcony), the shower has proper water pressure, and the air conditioning doesn’t sound like a freight train. The rooms have this warm, lived-in feeling with local textiles and artwork that feels authentic rather than hotel-generic. There’s also this tiny courtyard area where you can sit with morning coffee – nothing fancy, just a few plants and good light. The staff genuinely seems to care about helping you figure out the neighborhood rather than just pushing tour packages. When I mentioned wanting to find good pho, the receptionist drew me an actual hand-drawn map to three different places within walking distance, including her personal favorite (which, by the way, was absolutely correct).

I’ll be honest – this isn’t a place for people who need a full concierge service or want to stay within a hotel bubble. But if you’re the type who actually wants to experience Hanoi rather than just visit it, CHARM CHARM feels like staying at a really cool local friend’s place who happens to be an excellent host. The 9-point rating makes total sense once you realize what they’re actually going for here.

  Very new apartment, very big, comfortable, amazing location, neighborhood is my favorite in Hanoi. I was working remotely and down the street is this perfect cafe to work from. Also, a great sushi restaurant!

  Chủ home rất nice. Quy trình nhận phòng dễ hiểu, thông tin rất chi tiết. Phòng đẹp, y như ảnh, có TV siêu to khổng lồ, xịn, bồn tắm rất chill, mọi thứ đều sạch sẽ.
  
  What could be improved: Không có cửa phòng tắm và bồn cầu lại ngay sát cửa nên hơi ngại. Bàn ăn nên có 2 ghế ngồi thay vì chỉ 1. Cách âm có vẻ không tốt lắm. Ngoài ra nếu có tài khoản netflix sẵn thì sẽ tốt hơn.

  I chose to stay 3 times, in total 8 nights, at this new hotel in the cosmopolitan Tay Ho. They offer comfortable and modern studios. The place is brand new. While there were some minor startup issues, the friendly staff worked hard to resolve them quickly.
  The studios are thoughtfully designed, making it easy to feel at home, and the location is ideal: close to cafés, restaurants, and Tay Ho’s lakeside charm. Once fully settled, this place is set to become a top choice for travelers. I look forward to seeing it reach its full potential!
  
  What could be improved: The place was not 100% ready when I arrived, but a discount was given in return for the inconveniences.

  Excellent room and bathroom. Had a great night sleep. The staff were great at communicating, and check in was smooth even though we arrived in the middle of the night.
