Éclectique Hanoi Homestay Overview

You know what struck me first about Éclectique Hanoi Homestay? The name actually makes sense once you’re inside. I mean, it’s tucked away in this narrow alley off Đội Cấn Street – and honestly, good luck finding it without your phone GPS because these ngõ addresses can be tricky even for locals. But that’s part of the charm, really. The whole place feels like someone’s artsy aunt decided to open her eclectic home to travelers, mixing vintage Vietnamese furniture with unexpected modern touches and quirky art pieces that somehow work together. The owner clearly has an eye for design, though it’s not that sterile Instagram-perfect aesthetic you see everywhere now. It’s more… lived-in and genuine, if that makes sense.

What really sold me on this place was the location knowledge you get from staying here. Ba Dinh district isn’t the touristy Old Quarter chaos – it’s where actual Hanoians live and work. You’re walking distance from the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum (though honestly, skip it unless you’re really into that sort of thing), but more importantly, you’re near some incredible street food spots that most tourists never find. There’s this bánh mì lady about three blocks away who starts setting up around 6 AM, and the family running the homestay will actually draw you a little map to find her. The rooms themselves are surprisingly quiet considering you’re in the middle of Hanoi – the alley location means you’re buffered from the main street motorbike symphony, though you’ll still hear the occasional honk drifting over. Air conditioning works well, which is crucial during those brutal summer months, and the Wi-Fi is solid enough for video calls home.

The whole experience feels authentic in a way that’s getting harder to find in Hanoi these days. Check-in is relaxed – they’ll sit you down with tea and actually explain the neighborhood instead of just handing you a key card. The family speaks decent English, though they’re more comfortable in Vietnamese, and they genuinely seem to enjoy sharing their city with visitors. Breakfast is simple but good, with local touches alongside the standard eggs and toast. I’d say the 8.9 rating is pretty accurate – it’s not luxury by any stretch, but it’s thoughtfully done and the kind of place that makes you feel like you’re experiencing real Hanoi rather than just visiting it. The only minor downside is that the hot water can be a bit temperamental in the mornings, but honestly, that’s par for the course in this price range. If you’re looking for cookie-cutter hotel amenities, this isn’t your spot. But if you want to stay somewhere with personality in a neighborhood where you can actually see how the city works, Éclectique gets it right.

Reviews of Éclectique Hanoi Homestay

  • Alessandro from Italy – 4 May 2025 (9/10)

The Homestay is very clean and the staff is really nice.

  • Alison from Australia – 25 April 2025 (9/10)

Beautiful property, great pool, new comfortable beds and pillows. 10 minute walk to the lake. Staff very helpful, especially Tracy.

What could be improved: We would have loved a mini fridge in the room. Also we didn’t know that there was a laundry service or free water refills until we were checking out. But it was a beautiful place to stay. Definitely recommend.

  • Hoàng from Vietnam – 24 April 2025 (9/10)

I’ve stayed in many places, but Eclectique felt truly special. It’s beautifully designed — cozy, artistic, and full of personality. The quiet alley it’s located in made it feel like a peaceful hideaway, yet I could get to the Old Quarter in 10 minutes. The host made me feel like a friend, not just a guest. Highly recommended for anyone looking to slow down and experience Hanoi in a deeper way.

  • Bao from Vietnam – 24 April 2025 (9/10)

The moment I walked in, I felt like I left the busy city behind. The garden and the pool created such a peaceful vibe — it’s rare to find that in Hanoi! My room had a lovely mix of traditional Vietnamese touches and modern comfort. I spent hours just reading by the pool. A perfect spot for solo travelers and couples who want to relax.

  • Việt from Vietnam – 23 April 2025 (9/10)

This place really feels like a home away from home. Everything was thoughtfully arranged, the vibe was calm and relaxing, and the host was super sweet and helpful. I couldn’t have asked for a better stay. More like a hotel than a homestay.

  • Erwin from Philippines – 2 April 2025 (9/10)

Everything works as it is quite new. They have a restaurant/cafe on site. Staff were very approachable. Coffee was even great. Located a few minutes’ walk from the main street, peacefully away from the Doi Can traffic.

What could be improved: Nothing in particular.

  • Như from Vietnam – 6 March 2025 (9/10)

I had a perfectly delightful three-day stay at Éclectique, filled with exceptional experiences. From the moment we stepped through the gates, we were immediately captivated by its striking design—an exquisite interplay of colors and architectural elements that exuded a distinctly European charm. It felt as though we were strolling past the elegant shophouses of Italy or France, embodying a refreshingly unique Airbnb aesthetic rarely found in Hanoi.

The serene and tranquil atmosphere elevated our stay, making every moment of rest and slumber truly sublime. Every amenity in the room was meticulously curated, reflecting a keen eye for detail and an uncompromising commitment to quality. I was thoroughly impressed and would undoubtedly return should I have another opportunity to visit Hanoi. Absolutely loved every bit of it!

  • Bruce from Vietnam – 12 February 2025 (9/10)

Exceptionally clean and tidy. Everything is new.
Super quiet in the evening. Had a good rest and sleep after a busy day.
The staff is very friendly, courteous, and resourceful.
Very conveniently located near the One Pillar Pagoda, HCM mausoleum, and Ba Dinh District historic places and neighborhoods.
    Highly recommended.

  • Tường from Vietnam – 11 February 2025 (9/10)

The shared space is super spacious, with a beautiful and very clean pool. It has a French-style, chill vibe—feels like stepping into the Metropole. You can work or read on the ground floor, the coffee is tasty, the dining, kitchen area is spotless, and there's a classy reading room. The elevator is as fancy as a 5-star hotel, but the price is super affordable.

The bed and pillows are brand new and super comfy, and the air conditioning works well.

What could be improved: Maybe because it's newly opened, the service could be a bit quicker, but overall, for this pricing level, it's a solid 9/10.

  • Nguyen from Vietnam – 10 February 2025 (9/10)

The hotel and coffee shop have a great artistic vibe, and the staff are super friendly, enthusiastic, and attentive! I really had a nice vacation here. They have gallery and library in the upstairs but I didn’t have time to get there. I will back and enjoy all the art next time

    What could be improved: Nothing
