Eclipse Legend Hotel Overview

You know what? I wasn’t expecting much when I first walked up to Eclipse Legend Hotel – honestly, the entrance on Hàng Vôi 7 is pretty understated, tucked between some local shops in a way that feels more authentic than flashy. But stepping inside, there’s this immediate shift to something more polished without losing that Vietnamese charm. The lobby has this warm lighting that actually makes you look good in photos (trust me, I tested this), and the staff genuinely seemed happy to see guests rather than just going through the motions.

The location is where this place really shines, though they don’t make a big deal about it. You’re literally a five-minute walk from Hoan Kiem Lake – I mean, you can practically feel the morning tai chi energy from your room if you’re facing the right direction. What I loved is that you’re deep enough into the Old Quarter to feel like you’re living it, but on a quieter street so you’re not dealing with the motorbike symphony at 6 AM (well, not as much anyway). There’s this little coffee shop about thirty seconds away where locals actually hang out, and honestly, their pho is better than most places tourists end up. The hotel staff pointed me toward it on my second day – that kind of insider tip that makes you feel like you’re getting the real Hanoi experience.

The rooms themselves hit that sweet spot between comfort and character. Everything works properly (the AC actually cools things down, the shower has decent pressure), but it doesn’t feel sterile like some of these newer places. I stayed on the fourth floor and could catch glimpses of the lake between buildings – not exactly a lake view, but you know it’s there. The bed was surprisingly comfortable for Southeast Asia, and they’ve got these blackout curtains that actually block light, which is clutch when you’re dealing with jet lag. Service-wise, they’re attentive without being hovering – like, they remembered I preferred my coffee strong after day two, but they weren’t constantly asking if I needed anything. Check-in was smooth, they held my luggage on the last day without any fuss, and when I needed restaurant recommendations beyond the typical tourist spots, they came through with places I never would have found on my own. It’s that 8.6 rating in action – not perfect, but consistently solid in ways that actually matter when you’re traveling.

Reviews of Eclipse Legend Hotel

  • Krystine from United Kingdom – 3 June 2025 (10/10)

Its near to some of the tourist spot. The staff were extremely friendly and approachable. The room is good.

What could be improved: Its just we can hear the noise inside the room from the lobby. We are staying near the front desk.

  • Shah from India – 28 May 2025 (10/10)

The staff members were very helpful, they also packed breakfast for us. All in all, the location was very good, and the stay was super value for money.

  • Guenther from South Africa – 2 May 2025 (8/10)

    Everything was lovely!
I spent half a today in a more expensive room as an early check in & then moved into to my smaller double bedroom. Sadly the smaller room seemed to inherit the old tv with no internet connection, the old fridge without a working freezer ie: no ice. First world problems, I guess…
Otherwise everything was great & good value for money!

  • May from Philippines – 22 April 2025 (10/10)

I liked the room, though it was a bit cramped. On the bright side, the toilet was spacious and clean, which I really appreciated. The hotel also has an elevator, which made things much more convenient. The staff responded quickly to my requests, and I’m really grateful they were able to accommodate me. The front office staff were very friendly as well, which made the stay even more pleasant.

What could be improved: However, one downside was the lack of outlets. There were only two in the room, and one of them was already taken by the refrigerator. It was the first time I’ve stayed in a hotel with such limited outlets, so it was a bit challenging for charging multiple devices.

Overall, I’m giving them a 10 rating because of the great service and cleanliness, but more outlets would definitely improve the experience.

  • Angela from Canada – 20 April 2025 (10/10)

Wonderful hotel, small but perfectly formed and easy to walk everywhere.

  • Ragudo from Philippines – 4 April 2025 (10/10)

The staff at this hotel were amazing. They were professional, friendly and couldn't do enough for us. The breakfast was great with enough choices. The location was excellent. Highly recommend.

  • Marty from Canada – 30 March 2025 (9/10)

Staff were very friendly and spent quite a bit of time explaining points of interest in the city.
Good location, close to the old quarter.
    Bed was comfortable
Helped us arrange transport to the airport which went smoothly.
Toilet and shower had a glass wall separating them. Didn't see this much elsewhere in Vietnam.

What could be improved: Our room didn't have any windows at all
There was a strong chemical smell in the room, not sure if it was the cleaner they had used

  • Fernanda from Australia – 24 March 2025 (9/10)

The staff took very good care of us, we enjoyed the experience and we appreciate that. For us it was a very good location.

What could be improved: As a recommendation I would do something to improve the musty smell that you feel when you enter the room.

  • Tracy from United Kingdom – 21 March 2025 (10/10)

  • Michelle from India – 17 March 2025 (10/10)
