The weekend night market sprawls just around the corner, and honestly, I’ve never stayed anywhere in Hanoi where you can walk to both the lake and the cathedral in under five minutes. What couples seem to love most (and the ratings back this up) is how you can disappear into quiet side streets for intimate dinners, then pop back onto the main drags when you want that electric Old Quarter energy. The motorbike symphony never really stops, but you know what? That’s part of Hanoi’s charm.

The Rooms

The rooms at Flower Hostel actually surprised me — they’re more spacious than you’d expect for this part of town. Large windows let in plenty of natural light, which is crucial when you’re staying in the dense Old Quarter where some places feel like caves. The beds are properly comfortable (not always a given in Vietnam), and there’s decent storage space for longer stays. Air conditioning works well, which you’ll appreciate during Hanoi’s sticky summer months, and the bathrooms are modern with good water pressure — small details that matter when you’re exploring the city all day.

Getting Around

From here, you can walk to most Old Quarter highlights, but what I really appreciated was how easy it is to grab a taxi or Grab to venture further out. The Temple of Literature is a quick ride away, and getting to the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum takes maybe fifteen minutes by car. If you’re planning day trips to Ha Long Bay or Sapa, most tour operators will pick you up right from this area — no need to trek across the city to meet your bus. The nearby streets connect you to Hanoi’s broader transport network without the headache of staying somewhere too remote.

  Чисто. Уютно. Близко к озеру. Рядом с центром, но расположение во дворе, поэтому тихо. Были все принадлежности. Кулер с водой. Хозяева не говорят на английском, но это не вызвало трудностей, общались путем жестов. Хозяева милые, улыбчивые

  I've always loved the Hoan Kiem lake on weekends, so it was great to have easy access. The adult hosts were always quite kind, despite difficulties in communication due to my poor Vietnamese.
  
  What could be improved: I'm not sure the room was fully ready when I arrived in the evening, as some areas of the bedroom and bathroom could have been tidier. Toiletries were few for a somewhat long stay, and there was no hand soap, but I'm sure they would have provided it had I asked.

  It was perfect! Located in the Old Quarter but quite silent at night. Big private room with a comfortable bed, great bathroom, super friendly hosts and very clean. Unfortunately, I only stayed two nights, but I would definetly come back.

  The hosts were very nice and welcoming and waited till very late to accept me. The location is pretty good, and the shower is great!

  I had a pleasant, cheap stay here. I didn't stay long as I was going to Sapa at 5.30 the next morning. The room is basic, but decent enough. Bear in mind you're basically staying in a Vietnamese family's house, complete with the sort of clutter you might nornally expect to see. If that isn't what you want, try somewhere else, but I didn't mind.
