You know what really struck me about the Golden Amour Hotel? It’s tucked away on this tiny side street called Chan Cam, right in the heart of Hoan Kiem – and I mean really in the heart of it. You’re literally a three-minute walk from the Old Quarter’s chaos, but somehow this little pocket feels almost serene. Well, as serene as central Hanoi gets anyway. The building itself has that narrow, tall Vietnamese architecture thing going on (you know how land is precious here), and honestly, from the outside it looks like just another facade squeezed between local shops. But step inside and it’s actually quite impressive – they’ve made the most of every square inch with this warm, sophisticated lobby that feels way more spacious than it should.

The staff here really knows their stuff, which matters more than you’d think in a city where tourist traps are everywhere. When I mentioned wanting to find decent pho that wasn’t aimed at foreigners, the front desk guy – without missing a beat – pointed me toward this tiny place two blocks over on Hang Bo street where locals actually eat. That’s the kind of insider knowledge you hope for but rarely get. The rooms are what I’d call thoughtfully designed rather than flashy. Everything works properly (the AC is actually cold, the hot water is reliably hot), and there’s enough space to properly unpack your suitcase, which honestly isn’t a given in this part of town. The beds are firm in that good way, and the soundproofing is decent – you’ll hear the morning motorbike symphony starting around 6 AM, but it’s not jarring. I mean, if you wanted complete silence, you probably wouldn’t be staying in central Hanoi anyway.

What really sells this place for me is the location intelligence. You’re close enough to walk to Hoan Kiem Lake for that early morning tai chi scene, but you’re also perfectly positioned to dive into the Old Quarter’s street food maze without having to navigate back through tourist-heavy areas when you’re stuffed with banh mi and ready for a nap. The night market on weekends is basically on your doorstep, and – this is key – you can actually escape back to the hotel when the crowds get overwhelming. I’ve stayed in places where you’re either stuck in the tourist bubble or completely cut off from everything interesting, but this hits that sweet spot. The 9.3 rating makes sense once you’re there for a day or two. It’s not trying to be the fanciest place in Hanoi, but everything they do, they do well. The kind of place where you stop thinking about the hotel itself and just use it as a really solid base for exploring the city – which, honestly, is exactly what you want.

  The property is in an amazing location, within walking distance to most attractions but also in a quiet area. What made our stay truly amazing however was the staff who were very hospitable and friendly and did everything they could to make our stay we best as possible. Upon arrival we were given a free room upgrade and support in booking our transport to the next place. Breakfast was delicious with a good selection. I could not recommend this hotel enough.

  The staff were amazing, very helpful. Our room was lovely with a small balcony , the bed was comfortable, and it was very clean. Very good breakfast.The location was great, close to everything, but still quiet. We were also able to store some baggage for 2 days whilst on a trip away.
