Hanoi Bliss Nam Ngu Overview
Look, I’ve stayed in a lot of places around Hoan Kiem, and honestly? Hanoi Bliss Nam Ngu surprised me. The location on Nam Ngu Street is one of those spots that’s technically in the thick of things but somehow feels tucked away – you know what I mean? You’re literally a three-minute walk from the lake, but you’re not dealing with the chaos of Hang Bac or those tourist-packed streets where motorbikes are honking at 6 AM.
What actually got me was how they’ve managed to create this little bubble of calm without sacrificing convenience. The staff here – and I’m usually pretty skeptical about overly friendly service – genuinely seem to know their stuff about the city. The guy at reception (I think his name was Duc?) didn’t just give me the standard tourist map routine. He actually marked up specific alleys for good pho, told me which entrance to use for the night market to avoid crowds, that sort of thing. The rooms themselves are what you’d expect from a solid 4-star, but there are these small touches that matter when you’re jet-lagged and dealing with Hanoi’s humidity. The AC actually works well – not one of those units that sounds like a helicopter and barely cools the room. The bathroom has proper water pressure, which honestly can be hit or miss even in nicer places here.
Here’s the thing though – and this might sound weird – but the hotel has this particular smell in the lobby that’s somehow both clean and warm at the same time. Maybe it’s whatever wood they used for the furniture mixed with some subtle incense, I don’t know. But it’s one of those details that made me feel like I was staying somewhere that actually cared about the experience rather than just checking boxes. The breakfast situation is pretty solid too, with actual Vietnamese options alongside the usual Western stuff (though skip the pancakes and go for the pho bo – trust me on this). The neighborhood itself comes alive in the evenings, but it’s more local energy than tourist madness. You’ll hear motorbikes and street vendors, but it’s the soundtrack of actual Hanoi life rather than the aggressive hustle of the backpacker quarter. I mean, you’re still close enough to walk to St. Joseph’s Cathedral or pop over to the weekend night market, but you can actually get some sleep at night. That 9.4 rating makes sense when you think about it – it’s not trying to be the fanciest place in the city, but everything they do, they do right.

The apartment was so comfortable and quiet! But in a brilliant location and only a short walk to the Old Quater! I loved it so much I booked a second time and came back. Minh was very accommodating and was always there if I needed anything 🙂

The property was in an excellent location, felt very safe and was clean! My check in and check out process went very smoothly and the host even accommodated storing my bags so I could explore some more of the city before my flight! Would definitely return!
What could be improved: Everything was really nice!Guy from Sweden – 19 April 2025 (10/10)
The apartment was spacious, modern, and exactly as pictured—clean, well-equipped, and thoughtfully designed. The air conditioning was a welcome relief from the Hanoi heat, and the hot water supply was consistent, even with two people showering back-to-back. We especially appreciated the brand-new washer and dryer, which made doing laundry during our stay incredibly convenient.
The location is fantastic—tucked away on a side street lined with cafés. Hanoi’s main train station is just a 3-minute walk, and the famous “Train Street” is no more than 5 minutes away on foot. The vibrant Old Quarter is about a 15-minute walk or a quick, inexpensive Grab ride. Hoa Lo Prison (the “Hanoi Hilton”) is also just a few minutes’ walk from the apartment.
Communication with our host was excellent. They were very responsive on WhatsApp, with clear and timely messages before and throughout our stay.
We would absolutely stay here again on our next visit to Hanoi—a true gem.
What could be improved: Nothing; everything was goodMalcolm from United Arab Emirates – 11 April 2025 (9/10)
The rooms are pretty big. Plenty of room for a couple.
What could be improved: The hotel is in a small street in the Old Quarter and it can be a bit noisy at times but Hanoi can be buzzing with noise and activity most of the time.Hailey from United States – 12 March 2025 (10/10)

We had an incredible time at this apartment. An is an excellent host and always responds whenever she can. She accommodated our request to checkin early at a minimal fee. Location was superb, you can walk around the area and would have a lot of options to grab food and coffee. Bed is really comfy, we had a great sleep. Will definitely book this unit again if we ever go back to Hanoi.
