Hanoi Dalvostro Valentino Hotel & Spa Overview
You know what struck me first about the Hanoi Dalvostro Valentino? Walking down Bao Khanh Lane, you’d almost miss it if you weren’t looking – it’s tucked into this narrow alley that honestly feels like stepping into old Hanoi’s secret pocket. But once you’re inside, the contrast is pretty remarkable. The lobby has this boutique hotel vibe that actually works, not the trying-too-hard kind you see everywhere. I mean, the staff genuinely seemed to know what they were doing during check-in, which sounds basic but you’d be surprised how rare that is.
The location is what really sells this place, though. You’re literally a three-minute walk from Hoan Kiem Lake – and I’m talking about the good side, where locals do their morning tai chi, not the touristy chaos near the bridge. Step out the front door and Hang Gai Street (the silk street) is right there, plus you can actually navigate the Old Quarter maze from here without getting completely lost. The lane itself stays surprisingly quiet considering you’re in the heart of everything. Sure, you’ll hear the occasional motorbike – this is Hanoi after all – but nothing like the main drag noise. What I really appreciated was being able to grab proper Vietnamese coffee at the little shop two doors down every morning, the kind where the owner nods at you by day three because you’re practically a regular.
The spa part isn’t just marketing fluff either. After spending days walking on those uneven Old Quarter stones (your feet will thank you for this), having a decent massage option right in the building is honestly perfect. The rooms are what you’d expect from a solid 4-star – clean, comfortable, good shower pressure which matters more than people admit. That 9.6 rating makes sense when you add it all up. It’s not trying to be the fanciest place in Hanoi, but everything just works the way it should. The kind of spot where you can dump your bags, explore the city properly, and come back to somewhere that feels like a refuge rather than just another hotel room. If you’re planning to actually experience Hanoi instead of just passing through, this location puts you right where you want to be without the premium price tag of the big international chains on the lake.

The hotel is in a quieter street very close to Hoa Kiem Lake and numerous eateries. The hotel may not be the newest but the staff more than makes up for any shortcoming. Special thanks to Jimmy, Kim & Charlie, who are always ready to assist. I highly recommend a stay at this hotel
What could be improved: Time your breakfast as it can get very busy at popular timesSteven from Australia – 4 June 2025 (9/10)
Great location, fantastic staff, excellent breakfast.
What could be improved: Our room was a little small but that was probably our choice.Suraj from Australia – 4 June 2025 (9/10)
We booked interconnected rooms for our family and it was perfect . Breakfast was excellent . Staffs were so helpful and supportive . Highly recommended
What could be improved: Everything was perfect.Jennifer from New Zealand – 3 June 2025 (9/10)
The breakfast had good variety, and when we arrived early and the room wasn’t ready yet, the staff sent us up for breakfast. They didn’t charge us for this, and we appreciated it after a long journey. It is the type of gesture that sets a hotel apart from the crowd.
We stayed in 2 rooms. The first was a balcony room that was spacious and perfect, although the balcony was tiny and more of a window with a ledge. When we returned from Halong Bay we had one of the small rooms without a window which was very snug, but fine for a night.
The location was fantastic. Quiet street for the old quarter, and close to everything.
Staff were super helpful, and the highlight was Train Street! Sophie was particularly excellent, thank you.
What could be improved: Just know what you are getting room-wise. The rooms are priced accordingly and were good value for money.Kim from Australia – 3 June 2025 (10/10)
Great breakfast. Fantastic staff…all of them. Brilliant location. I could not fault a thing.

My favorite thing about our stay was the friendly staff. They were so helpful and assisted us in booking transportation to/from the hotel as well as a day tour to Ninh Binh. They also provided some great recommendations in the area. We also used them for laundry service as well which was quite speedy. The room was clean and the air conditioning was a great reprieve from the hot Vietnam sun. Tons of great food in the area and close to Hoan Kiem Lake which is nice to walk around. The buffet breakfast was nice as well and included many options including made-to-order pho and eggs.

The staff was welcoming and helpful. But Jimmy was especially wonderful. He helped me tirelessly with a visa issue that popped up unexpectedly. He called immigration and found a hotel room for me when I had to return to Hanoi from the airport. It was so great to have a caring person help me through such a difficult situation!
Also the breakfast was amazing with the best Vietnamese food served very early in the day!
What could be improved: Everything was fantastic!Rod from Australia – 1 June 2025 (10/10)
Everything was superb. The staff were very friendly and so helpful, especially Sophie and Jimmy and the doormen. Sorry cant remember everyone's name. The room was clean and very comfortable, along with a delicious personalised breakfast. The hotel was extremely well located within walking distance to the lake, restaurants, night markets and other attractions. No need to use taxi anywhere. 10/10.
What could be improved: Nothing.
