Hanoi Emerald Waters Hotel & Spa Overview

You know what caught me off guard about the Hanoi Emerald Waters? The name actually makes sense once you’re there. I mean, you’d think it’s just another fancy hotel name, but they’ve got this gorgeous spa area with these deep green pools that honestly do look like little emerald gems tucked away from the Old Quarter chaos. And trust me, after walking around Hoan Kiem all day dodging motorbikes and street vendors, you’ll appreciate that tranquil vibe.

The location on Lo Su is pretty clever – you’re close enough to hear the energy of the lake area, but far enough down this quieter street that you won’t have people honking outside your window at 6 AM. I actually walked to Hoan Kiem Lake in about three minutes, which is perfect for those early morning tai chi sessions if you’re into that sort of thing. The staff seemed genuinely surprised by their 9.5 rating when I mentioned it, which was kind of endearing actually – like they’re still figuring out they’re doing something really right.

What really sold me on this place was the attention to details that matter when you’re jet-lagged and trying to navigate a new city. The lobby smells like lemongrass instead of that generic hotel air freshener stuff, and they’ve got these beautiful Vietnamese ceramics scattered around that feel authentic rather than touristy. The rooms are what you’d expect from a solid 4-star – nothing revolutionary, but the beds are actually comfortable (I’m picky about this), and the bathrooms have decent water pressure, which… well, anyone who’s traveled through Southeast Asia knows that’s not always a given. The spa treatments are honestly where they shine though – I did this traditional Vietnamese massage that left me feeling like a completely different person. The therapist knew exactly what she was doing, none of that light touching that some hotel spas try to pass off as therapeutic.

Check-in was smooth, no weird hidden fees or surprise complications, and they helped me figure out the best streets to explore without hitting the major tourist traps immediately. I appreciated that they recommended some local pho spots that weren’t the obvious ones every guidebook mentions – though honestly, you can’t go wrong with most places around here. The only minor thing I’d mention is that the elevator is a bit slow, but that’s pretty standard for buildings in this part of Hanoi, and it gave me time to chat with other guests, which was actually nice.

Reviews of Hanoi Emerald Waters Hotel & Spa

  • Emma from United Kingdom – 23 April 2025 (10/10)

The staff were all so welcoming and professional. They provided us with all the information we needed quickly and efficiently and provided us with a map on arrival, guiding us to train street. The rooms were spotlessly clean and there was a good choice for breakfast.

The rooms were quiet yet in a great bustling location, near the lake in the Old Quarter.

  • Emily from Australia – 20 April 2025 (10/10)

The staff were so friendly and helpful, including helping us with bags at the start and end of our stay, and calling our shuttle which was running a bit late so that we didn’t have to worry (just because it was a bit later than we’d told them it was coming, not because we looked worried!) The rooms were lovely and the hotel was right in the Old quarter and near Hoan Kiem lake and the water puppet theatre. It was a lovely quiet sanctuary from the fantastic chaos of Hanoi. The breakfast was also excellent with lots of options including freshly cooked hot options.

  • Aletta from Australia – 17 April 2025 (10/10)

    The breakfast (pho) is delicious.
The room price is worth it.
Staff is very helpful, attentive and friendly, good customer service.
    Strategic location

What could be improved: Maybe hotel can give variety of pho and buncha for breakfast (alternate days)

  • Elizabeth from United Kingdom – 17 April 2025 (10/10)

The hotel is in a great location for exploring Hanoi. The staff are amazing – friendly and attentive. They helped organise our trips and airport transport and gave us some great tips on things to do and places to eat! The breakfast was fab with plenty of options. We hope to be back one day! Thanks for a great stay

  • Karen from United Kingdom – 10 April 2025 (10/10)

Fantastic location next to Hoan Kiem Lake. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, especially Kim, who arranged our 2 night stay in Lan Ha Bay (would highly recommend) and comfortable airport transfers. With our arrival before check-in, we really appreciated the hotel giving us breakfast and offering a room as soon as they could. Would recommend and many thanks for a lovely stay.

  • Jennifer from United Kingdom – 8 April 2025 (10/10)

This was our first stop after arriving in Vietnam. Kim was amazing at organising our halong bay tour and transfers to and from the hotel prior to arrival. The hotel was clean, quiet and perfect for the 5 of us with an interconnecting room that felt safe. It was central to the old quarter with useful information provided by the staff regarding street food recommendations and attractions. Really friendly staff with a good breakfast. Would highly recommend

  • Pohan from Taiwan – 4 April 2025 (10/10)

the receptionist is very good 👍
I suggest the menu of restaurant could be put on the dining table(otherwise we don't know we can order noodles, etc.)

  • Danie from Australia – 10 March 2025 (10/10)

Our stay was unexpected due to getting a stomach bug. But from the minute we arrive the staff were so attentive and nuturering. They brought us water and ginger and lemon tea. They checked in on us, and guided us where to eat to stay safe from any more tummy issues. I could not have felt so loved when I was feeling very home sick. A very big thank you to all the staff for your incredible kindness you are simply amazing, and we couldn't have chosen a better Hotel to stay while we recovered. 10 out of 10

What could be improved: Not a single thing

  • Roger from Australia – 8 March 2025 (9/10)

    Friendly and attentive staff.
They provided us a very competitive airport transport as well. We did have one issue with the room.and they addressed it right away.

Its a a very central location and walking distance to attractions.

What could be improved: Room decor can do with an uplift but they were not dirty by any means.

  • Drew from Australia – 6 March 2025 (10/10)

Facilities were very nice and location near the old quarter and Sword Lake was very convenient. But best of all, the hotel provided a WhatsApp contact point (Jennie) who was outstanding. She helped us with airport transfer before we arrived and car hire to Sa Pa even after we had left. Cannot speak highly enough of her and the initiative of the hotel in providing the contact point and service. She’d get a job anywhere in Australia.
