Hanoi Lotus Boutique Hotel Overview

You know what struck me first about the Hanoi Lotus Boutique Hotel? It’s tucked away on this narrow street called Hoi Vu that most tourists walk right past, but honestly, that’s exactly what makes it perfect. I mean, you’re literally a three-minute walk from Hoan Kiem Lake – I timed it – but without all the chaos and motorbike honking that comes with staying right on the main drag. The building itself has this lovely French colonial vibe that actually feels authentic rather than trying too hard, if you know what I mean.

The staff here genuinely seem to care about getting the details right, which is refreshing after staying at places where you feel like just another booking number. When I checked in, the front desk guy – I think his name was Minh – actually pulled out a hand-drawn map to show me the best route to avoid the crazy traffic around Hang Gai Street during rush hour. The rooms are what I’d call thoughtfully sized rather than cramped (and trust me, I’ve stayed in some shoebox hotels in this city). The beds are actually comfortable, not just Instagram-pretty, and they’ve got proper blackout curtains which is clutch if you’re dealing with jet lag. One small thing that impressed me – the bathroom has a window that opens, so you don’t get that stuffy, humid feeling that plagues so many hotels in Hanoi’s climate.

What really sets this place apart though is how it sits in the neighborhood. You’re close enough to walk to the Old Quarter for your pho fix or souvenir hunting, but Hoi Vu Street itself has this residential feel where you’ll see locals buying fresh bread in the morning and kids playing in the evening. There’s this little coffee shop about two doors down – doesn’t even have a proper English sign – that serves better ca phe sua da than most of the tourist spots near the lake. The hotel’s location means you can actually experience a bit of real Hanoi daily life instead of just the sanitized tourist version. Sure, you might hear some street noise in the early morning (vendors start setting up around 6 AM), but honestly, that’s part of the authentic experience. Plus, the 8.9 rating reflects what I experienced – it’s not perfect, but it gets the important stuff right without breaking the bank or feeling generic.

So perfectly central for anything in the old quarter of Ha Noi.
Near any option of food, spa treatments, markets, chemists, easily accessible transport.

  • Yudi from Sweden – 16 March 2025 (9/10)

The staff we met (Mia and Anna) were just delightful and made our stay in Hanoi v memorable.

  • Caitlyn from Australia – 3 March 2025 (9/10)

The staff were very sweet and helpful. The location was great. A few minutes walk from Hoan Kiem and the old quarter, with food and supplies we needed in the area while not being too touristy. The room was spacious, well equipped and clean. The receptionist was very informative about local food, services and attractions. Highly recommended!!

  • Jackie from United Kingdom – 15 February 2025 (8/10)

Lovely hotel. Great size room & a large beautiful balcony.. The staff were very friendly . We also arrived early & our room was ready. Good comfy bed

What could be improved: Just so as people are aware. The breakfast is served at another hotel a short walk away. The breakfast was very disappointing. Also when we arrived there were quite a few empty plates that we had to ask a few times if they could re stock them. We felt staff should be checking this on a regular basis. People also came in after us & there were still more empty plates. No milk. Juice fruit

The hotel is in a great location and the staff are very professional and very helpful. Anna who works on the front desk is very informative about the area and can sort travel and excursions at local rates. Thank you to the whole team, they made our stay very pleasurable.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Lotus Boutique Hotel in Hanoi. I saw a great review re this hotel and it didn't fault. From the moment we walked in the door the staff were completely attentive, nothing was too much trouble, great breakfast – some foods changed daily. Very close to Lake and Water Puppet Show. We could also store our luggage overnight whilst visiting Halong Bay.

  • Yawen from China – 11 January 2025 (9/10)

All the staff were wonderful & attentive & knew our planned movements, pick up times & our itinerary when we checked in. Our room was really nice & breakfast each morning on the 2th floor restaurant was lovely. It was so perfect to be able to order custom omelettes & Pho noodles with chicken each morning. Mia, hang on the front desk were both pretty amazing & went above & beyond our expectations. Thank you Team Lotus Boutique!

Just came back from my trip to South Asia. I stayed over a week in Lotus boutique Hotel in Hanoi. I am a frequent traveler and have stayed in many hotels in many countries, and I was pleasantly surprised at the unique details of the accommodations in this hotel. Location was great. In the center of Old Quarter with French Quarter and lakes and many other attractions within walking distance. The beds were super comfy, and the rooms were quiet and nice sizes. The buffet breakfast was incredible. It had a very large choice of Vietnamese and Western foods. But what make unique is the super professional and friendly staff, and their great hospitality.
Alex (Hotel Manager) goes extra mile to assure guests get the help they need. He helped us with booking trips, activities, transportation and more.
Jennie is very professional and nice. She often approaches the guest to make sure that everything is to their liking. Th delicious break fast is a good start for the day.
Huong at front desk does a great job and take care of anything you ask immediately and precisely.
This Hotel is a real 5+ Hotel and the staff are a real A++ Team.

  • Biju from India – 5 December 2024 (9/10)

The service here is AMAZING.. staff is thoughtful and helpful and more than accommodating!
The hotel is in an excellent location- walk to anything yet on a quiet street.
My room was super clean and comfortable and I for sure will come back!
