Healing Homestay Overview
You know what surprised me about Healing Homestay? The name actually makes sense once you’re there – it’s one of those rare places where you genuinely feel like you’re staying with locals who happen to really know what they’re doing. I stumbled across this gem on Trần Thái Tông street (honestly, I kept calling it “that quiet street near the university” until I finally memorized the name), and it’s become my go-to recommendation for friends visiting Hanoi.
The location is brilliant in that understated way that takes a day or two to fully appreciate. You’re in Cau Giay, which means you’re close enough to the action but far enough from the motorbike chaos of the Old Quarter to actually sleep at night. There’s this little coffee shop two doors down where the owner – I think her name is Linh – makes the best cà phê trứng I’ve had outside of the touristy spots, and she always remembers how you like it after the second visit. The street itself is tree-lined and surprisingly peaceful, especially in the early mornings when you can hear birds instead of honking. I mean, this is still Hanoi, so there’s definitely motorbike noise, but it’s more like a gentle hum than the full orchestra you get downtown.
What really sets this place apart is how the family running it – and it definitely feels family-run – strikes this perfect balance between being helpful and giving you space. They’ll draw you a hand-sketched map to the nearest metro station (Cau Giay stop is maybe a 15-minute walk), but they won’t hover or push tour packages on you. The rooms are clean and comfortable in that “your friend’s really nice apartment” way rather than sterile hotel clean. Air conditioning works well, which honestly matters more than fancy amenities when it’s 35 degrees and humid outside. The Wi-Fi is solid too – I worked from there for three days without any issues, though the connection gets a bit spotty during evening rush hour when everyone’s streaming.
One thing I love is how they handle breakfast. It’s not a buffet situation but more like… well, like someone’s making you breakfast. Fresh bánh mì, fruit that’s actually ripe, and coffee that doesn’t taste like it came from a machine. They’ll ask about dietary restrictions without making it feel like a formal survey. The small touches matter here – like how they leave slippers by the door and how the towels always smell like they were dried in actual sunlight.
The 8.9 rating makes total sense to me because this isn’t trying to be luxury – it’s trying to be genuine, and it succeeds. You’re not getting a spa or a rooftop pool, but you are getting that increasingly rare experience of feeling welcomed rather than processed. I’ve stayed here four times now, and each visit feels like coming back to a place where people actually remember you. If you want Instagram-perfect amenities, look elsewhere. But if you want to experience Hanoi through the eyes of people who love living there, this is your spot.

Reviews of Healing Homestay
Trang from Vietnam – 25 May 2025 (9/10)
It’s not a guesthouse , not a homestay but it’s exactly my ideal accommodation to stay one night with my family. The price is reasonable and easy to find thanks to the owner’s instruction. It’s a good location to find restaurant or drinks or hair salon also.
