The thing about staying in Smart City is that you’re living like a local Hanoian would if they could afford one of these newer developments. I mean, you’ve got proper elevators that don’t make weird noises, decent water pressure (trust me, this matters), and windows that actually open to let in fresh air instead of motorbike exhaust. The apartment itself feels genuinely smart – not just the name – with good wifi that doesn’t cut out every time it rains, and air conditioning that works without sounding like a helicopter landing on your roof. The hosts clearly get what travelers need because there’s a proper workspace setup, and the kitchen has everything you’d actually use, not just a random collection of mismatched utensils.

What I really appreciated was the location strategy here. Yeah, you’re about 20 minutes from the Old Quarter by taxi, but that’s actually perfect if you want to experience Hanoi without the constant chaos of motorbikes and street vendors outside your window at 6 AM. The Smart City area has this weird mix of local Vietnamese families and expats, so you’ll find both a decent coffee shop that knows how to make a proper cappuccino and authentic phở joints where the aunties will still judge your chopstick technique. There’s a Big C supermarket within walking distance – sounds boring, but you’ll be grateful when you need actual toiletries or want to grab some of those Vietnamese snacks to take home. The compound has decent security too, which means you can actually leave your laptop in the room without spending your entire day worrying about it. Getting around is pretty straightforward with Grab, and honestly, the drivers seem to know the Smart City pickup points better than some of the older districts where they’re still figuring out the alley system. The 9.2 rating makes sense once you’ve stayed here – it’s not trying to be a luxury hotel, but it nails all the practical stuff that makes a difference when you’re staying somewhere for more than just a night or two.
