Hotel du Monde Art Overview
So I stumbled across Hotel du Monde Art while looking for something different in Hanoi – honestly, I was getting tired of the same old French colonial hotels in the Old Quarter. This place sits on Hoàng Như Tiếp street in Long Bien, which I’ll admit had me scratching my head at first because most tourists stick to Hoan Kiem. But you know what? That’s exactly why it works.
The hotel has this quirky art theme that actually feels genuine instead of trying-too-hard pretentious. When I walked into the lobby, there were these local paintings that weren’t the usual tourist market stuff – actually interesting pieces that made me stop and look. The staff seemed genuinely proud to explain the artists, which was refreshing. My room was solid for a 4-star place, nothing fancy but everything worked properly (you’d be surprised how often that’s not the case in Hanoi). The AC was quiet – crucial for light sleepers like me – and the bathroom had decent water pressure, though it took a minute to get hot in the mornings.
Here’s the thing about the location that took me a day to appreciate: you’re about 15 minutes by taxi from the chaos of the Old Quarter, but you’re also right near some spots that most visitors never see. There’s this little bia hoi place two blocks down where I never heard English spoken – just locals unwinding after work. The Long Bien Bridge is practically walkable from here, and if you’ve never watched sunset from there, well, you’re missing something special. Getting around is easy enough – Grab works fine from this area, and there’s actually less traffic than central Hanoi, which means your driver won’t be stuck honking in gridlock for twenty minutes. The neighborhood has that authentic residential vibe where kids are playing in the alleys and grandmothers are selling fruit from plastic stools. I mean, it’s not picturesque in a postcard way, but it feels real.
The hotel restaurant is decent for breakfast – they do a proper pho alongside the standard international stuff, and their Vietnamese coffee was strong enough to wake the dead. Check-in was smooth, though the front desk English gets a bit shaky during night shifts. One small thing that bugged me: the elevator is pretty slow, so if you’re on the upper floors and running late, factor that in. But honestly, for the price point and the 8.1 rating it’s pulling, Hotel du Monde Art delivers on being a comfortable base without breaking the bank. It’s particularly good if you want to experience Hanoi beyond the tourist bubble – you’ll still hit all the must-sees, but you’ll sleep somewhere that feels connected to how the city actually lives and breathes.

What could be improved: There is a pool but the water is only to the knees and no sun loungers are available, so you cannot relax by the pool.

Absolutely marvelous hotel!
Located in a calm and cosy place, surrounded by small shops and restaurants in proximity to old quarters and main attractions. Very cute design and cosy rooms, equipped with all necessary amenities. Daily full cleaning and a decent breakfasts. Pool is also available, but i didn't use it, since the weather was a bit cold for me.
The tee jewel of the hotel is Staff which is really helpful and caring.

We felt satisfied with the staff and the room. The location is quite convenient if you stay in Long Bien area, and also move to the city center quickly.
What could be improved: Actually the hotel bathroom is a bit inconvenient, as they don't separate the shower area maybe due to the small space.Bujed from Japan – 25 December 2022 (9/10)
