La Casa Di Dicembre Overview
You know what struck me first about La Casa Di Dicembre? The name – it means “December House” in Italian, which honestly seemed random until I realized how perfectly it captures that cozy, intimate vibe this place has going on. It’s tucked away on Nguyễn Khuyến street in Dong Da, and I mean really tucked away – you could walk past it if you’re not paying attention, which is actually part of its charm. The neighborhood feels authentically Vietnamese in a way that some of the Old Quarter hotels just don’t anymore, if you know what I mean.
The building itself has this lovely French colonial influence mixed with modern touches that don’t feel forced. When you step inside, there’s this immediate sense of calm that’s hard to find in Hanoi’s busier districts. The staff genuinely seems to care about getting the details right – my room had these thoughtful touches like really good lighting (travelers know how rare that is) and a bathroom that actually had proper water pressure. The beds are seriously comfortable too, which matters when you’re dealing with jet lag or tired feet from exploring the city all day. I noticed they keep the common areas at just the right temperature, not that arctic air conditioning that some places blast.
What I really appreciate about staying here is the location – you’re close enough to the action but far enough to actually sleep at night. Dong Da district gives you this perfect middle ground where you can grab amazing street food (there’s this incredible bún chả place maybe three blocks away that locals actually eat at), but you’re not dodging motorbikes every time you step outside. The area comes alive in the evenings with families out for walks and students from the nearby university, which gives it this genuine neighborhood energy. Getting to the Old Quarter takes maybe 15 minutes by taxi, or you can easily walk to some of the city’s better museums and parks. Honestly, after staying in more touristy areas before, I found this spot refreshing – it feels like you’re experiencing real Hanoi life instead of just passing through it. The 8.8 rating makes total sense once you’ve been there; it’s the kind of place that gets the fundamentals right without trying too hard to impress you with flashy extras you don’t actually need.

Reviews of La Casa Di Dicembre

I loved how the small spaced was used to full potential. It was a lovely little apartment with everything you need for a weekend stay. Everything was very modern and tasteful and the place was spotless.
What could be improved: I had been given the address to their second property which was on the top floor with no lift and only after climbing the 3 flights of stairs with our bags, we realise this was not our apartment. However, I contacted the owner and he sent the correct address straight away so it was a slight inconvenience and the apartment was a little difficult to find with google maps.Margarita from Spain – 19 May 2025 (8/10)
The apartment was very nicely decorated and the windows were very well soundproofed. Good location!
What could be improved: The bathroom didn’t have a sink, so we had to wash our hands in the kitchen sink, not very comfortable. The mattress could be replaced with a better one, it was already a bit saggy.Tanneau from Hong Kong – 6 May 2025 (9/10)
It was amazing, the owner was so nice , she offered us many bottle water and a fruit juice!
Angela from Australia – 23 April 2025 (9/10)
Despite that, this is not an in person check-in, the system to get in is super clear and well explained, Phoebe helped us to reschedule our booking due to some visa difficulties, also offered us extra information, and was always willing to see how we were. Thank you!
What could be improved: A bit of humidity smell in the bathroom, but the room is equipped with a dehumidifier.Yuei-an from Taiwan – 8 April 2025 (9/10)
No breakfast is provided.
What could be improved: The shower room is small.Rishikesh from India – 4 March 2025 (8/10)
The hotel was clean and the staff was friendly. I got to keep my luggage in a secure location before check-in. The host helped us and conveyed information in advance, which made it easy for us.
What could be improved: I had free cancellation and no pre-payment option for this property. I had to pay at the property in cash, instead of a credit card. It was not mentioned beforehand that I would be charged in cash. This meant that I had to go through the hassle of going to the bank/ATM to get the money, which also meant that I had to pay extra charges on mark-ups, advance cash fee (on credit card), GSTs, etc. I ended up paying almost 3500 Rs more due to this.Valeria from Italy – 24 February 2025 (9/10)
Clean, comfy

It felt like being at home staying at La Casa di Dicembre. We stayed here twice as the first time we loved it. It’s a real hidden gem in the heart of Hà Nội.
The room/studio we booked was on the very top floor, spotless, cosy and had everything we needed. We could sleep very well. We never met Quyet but he was great in his communication, responsive and helpful. If we are back to Hà Nội we won’t hesitate to stay here again.
