Midori Boutique Hotel Overview

You know what really struck me about Midori? It’s tucked away on Trieu Viet Vuong Street in this perfect sweet spot where you’re still in the thick of Hanoi but not drowning in the chaos of the Old Quarter. I mean, don’t get me wrong – I love the madness around Hoan Kiem Lake, but sometimes you need a place where you can actually hear yourself think, and this little boutique gem delivers exactly that.

The lobby honestly feels more like walking into someone’s really well-decorated living room than a hotel – there’s this warm, almost residential vibe that immediately made me relax after dealing with Hanoi traffic for twenty minutes trying to find the place (pro tip: the street numbers can be tricky around here, but it’s right near the intersection with Phan Chu Trinh if you’re coming by taxi). The staff actually remembers your name after the first day, which sounds small but makes such a difference when you’re jet-lagged and trying to figure out whether that street food gave you food poisoning or if you’re just tired. The rooms are what I’d call “thoughtfully compact” – not huge by any means, but everything has its place and the bed is surprisingly comfortable. The air conditioning works properly too, which… well, if you’ve stayed in budget places in Vietnam’s summer, you’ll appreciate why I’m mentioning this.

What really won me over though is how they handle the little things that matter when you’re actually living somewhere for a few days. The wifi reaches every corner (tested it myself because I’m paranoid about these things), there’s always hot water – even during peak morning hours when half the building is showering – and they’ll hold your luggage without making you feel like you’re asking for a huge favor. The neighborhood itself is pretty perfect for exploring – you’re maybe a fifteen-minute walk from the Temple of Literature, and there’s this fantastic banh mi place literally around the corner that locals actually eat at, not just tourists. Plus you can grab a taxi to anywhere in the city center for under 100,000 dong, though honestly the walking is half the fun. The area gets pleasantly quiet after 9 PM, which means you’ll actually sleep instead of lying awake listening to motorbikes until 3 AM like in some parts of the city. I stayed here twice now – once in spring and once during the sticky heat of August – and both times felt like I’d found this little refuge that somehow captures what’s great about Hanoi without overwhelming you with it. The 9.1 rating makes total sense once you’re there.

It was my first trip to Vietnam, but the hotel staff were very kind and spoke to me and explained things to me until I understood. The staff were very nice, attentive and told me about tourist attractions and good restaurants, so we went there. The hotel was also very spacious and comfortable.

  • Sayuri from Japan – 3 June 2025 (10/10)

Everything about Midori was first class. The service was perfect and the rooms quite luxurious. We had a few ideas on what to do, and they were then able to provide suggestions, booking our food tour, Ninh Binh day trip and a wonderful 3 day cruise in Ha Long Bay. This took so much of the worry and fuss away – really was brilliant.

  • Krodha from India – 3 June 2025 (10/10)

Can’t fault anything about the staff or services we received whist staying.
    Also in a great location.
