You’re literally a two-minute walk from Hoan Kiem Lake, which means you can actually enjoy those early morning walks around the water before the motorbike chaos kicks in around 7 AM. But here’s the thing most people don’t realize about Hang Buom specifically – it’s just off the main tourist drag, so you get that authentic Old Quarter vibe without the constant honking that’ll keep you up on Hang Gai or Ta Hien. I mean, there’s still noise (it’s Hanoi, after all), but it’s more like… neighborhood noise? Kids playing, locals chatting, the occasional food vendor calling out. Way more tolerable than the tourist street madness.

What actually impressed me most was how they’ve managed to fit modern comfort into what’s clearly an old building without making it feel fake or sterile. The rooms aren’t huge – you’re not going to be doing yoga in there – but they’re thoughtfully designed with decent storage and, thank god, actually hot water that stays hot. The air conditioning works properly too, which honestly isn’t something you can take for granted in older Hanoi hotels. The staff genuinely seems to know the neighborhood well, and I don’t just mean the obvious stuff like “turn left for the lake.” They pointed me toward this tiny bun cha place tucked away on a side alley that I never would’ve found otherwise, and it ended up being one of my best meals in the city.

The breakfast situation is pretty solid – nothing fancy, but they do a decent pho along with the usual Western options, and you can eat it on their little rooftop area while watching the city wake up. Actually, that rooftop becomes kind of a nice escape in the evenings too, especially if you need a break from the intensity of the streets below. One small thing that bugged me was the elevator – it’s tiny and slow, which is fine if you’re not in a hurry, but if you’re on the upper floors with luggage, just… plan accordingly.

  We had an early sightseeing trip one morning, and the staff kindly offered to prepare our breakfast to go. They even let us choose what we wanted and suggested a sensible option that would stay fresh despite the hot weather. The breakfast was well-packaged and ready for us to collect from reception, and the quality remained consistently high throughout our stay.
  
  Another thoughtful gesture was when they offered us umbrellas on a rainy day something many hotels overlook. The staff were always cheerful, polite, and ready to help. It’s clear they’re a hardworking and dedicated team who genuinely care about their guests.
  
  The location is absolutely perfect for tourists right in the heart of everything you might need, with plenty of nearby choices to explore, eat, and enjoy the local buzz. It’s ideal for soaking up the vibrant atmosphere of the city.

  The location was ideal and the staff were great. When we wanted to book tours the staff were really helpful and also when we had to catch an early morning flight they prepared a special take away breakfast for us.

  Our room (with a window and patio) was spacious and full of natural light, and the location is excellent.
  The service was outstanding! The staff was very helpful when we checked out—they let us store our luggage for the day, and kind Alice made sure we could take a shower in the evening at the gym downstairs. She also arranged a taxi to the train station.
