Look, I’ve stayed in a lot of places around Hanoi, but Myrcella Urban Studio honestly surprised me in the best way. It’s tucked down this narrow alley off Đào Tấn Street – and I mean really tucked away, like you’ll probably walk past the entrance twice before you spot it. But that’s actually part of its charm. The Ba Dinh district isn’t where most tourists end up, which means you’re getting a slice of real Hanoi life without the constant motorbike honking that keeps you up in the Old Quarter.

The moment you step inside, there’s this immediate sense of calm that’s pretty rare in Vietnamese hotels. The design feels deliberately minimal – clean lines, lots of natural light, none of that overwhelming gold trim you see everywhere else. What really got me was how quiet it is once you’re inside, even though you’re literally in the middle of the city. The rooms (well, they call them studios) are compact but smart about space – everything has a purpose, and honestly, the bed was one of the most comfortable I’ve had in Southeast Asia. The bathroom’s tiny but spotless, with this rainfall shower that actually has decent water pressure, which… you know what, that matters more than you think it will until you’ve had a few disappointing hotel showers.

Here’s what I wish someone had told me before I booked: the neighborhood is fantastic for morning walks, especially if you head toward Kim Mã Street where locals do their shopping. There’s this little coffee spot about two minutes away where they know how to make proper cà phê sữa đá, and the woman who runs it will remember your order by day three. The hotel staff – and I mean this – actually seem to care about what you’re doing in Hanoi. They gave me directions to places I hadn’t even heard of instead of just pointing toward Hoàn Kiếm Lake like everywhere else. Getting to the main tourist areas takes maybe fifteen minutes by taxi, but honestly, I found myself wanting to stay in the neighborhood more than I expected. The streets around here have this lived-in feeling that’s hard to find once you venture into the more touristy parts of town. Only real downside? The entrance is so discreet that food delivery drivers will definitely get lost trying to find you – learned that one the hard way. But for the price point and that 9.2 rating, which feels completely accurate, you’re getting something special here. It’s the kind of place that makes you feel like you stumbled onto a local secret, even though you probably just got lucky with your booking.

  Room, large bed and bathroom are totally new and high quality. The bath is large and the Japanse toilet is a bonus. They have daily room cleaning, even for studio’s. The studio is in a quite street in the middle of the authentic Japanese quarter, there are plenty of very nice Japanese restaurants around. We had the best price/quality experience at Izakaya “yen”, almost next to the studio
