Old Quarter Danny’s spacious 2-floor apartment, next to Train Cafe street Overview

First Impressions

When I first walked into Old Quarter Danny’s spacious 2-floor apartment, next to Train Cafe street, I honestly wasn’t expecting much from what sounded like a typical four-star rental. But you know what? This place completely changed my mind about staying in Hanoi’s Old Quarter. The apartment genuinely feels like you’re staying in someone’s well-loved home rather than a sterile hotel room, and Danny has clearly put thought into every corner of this two-story space.

The Space Itself

The layout actually works brilliantly — having two floors means you get proper separation between sleeping and living areas, which is rare in the Old Quarter where space is usually at a premium. The main downstairs area has this comfortable, lived-in feeling with local artwork on the walls, and the upstairs bedroom gets surprisingly good light for being tucked into Hanoi’s narrow streets. I mean, the kitchen isn’t huge, but it’s got everything you need if you want to grab some pho from the street and eat it properly at a real table instead of those tiny plastic stools.

Location Magic

Here’s the thing about being next to Train Cafe street — you’re literally in the thick of everything that makes the Old Quarter special, but somehow Danny’s place manages to stay relatively quiet. You can walk to Hoan Kiem Lake in about three minutes, and all those weekend night markets are right at your doorstep. What I really appreciated was having actual parking available on-site, which honestly feels like winning the lottery in this part of town where motorbikes are stacked three deep on every sidewalk.

The Neighborhood Experience

The location score of 9.2 makes total sense once you’re actually here — it’s that sweet spot where you’re surrounded by authentic street food and local life, but you’re not dealing with the chaos of some of the busier tourist strips. I’d grab my morning coffee from one of the tiny cafes literally steps away, then spend evenings watching the organized chaos of Hanoi street life from the upper floor windows. The couples rating of 8.5 doesn’t surprise me either — there’s something romantic about having your own little hideaway while being able to step out into one of Asia’s most vibrant neighborhoods.

Why Guests Love It

What sets this place apart is that Danny has managed to create something that feels authentically local while still being comfortable for travelers who want a bit more space than your typical hotel room. You get the independence of having your own place, complete with that restaurant scene right outside your door, but with the reliability of a well-managed property. The 8.6 rating reflects what I experienced — it’s not trying to be fancy, but it delivers exactly what you want when exploring Hanoi: a genuine base in the heart of the action where you can actually spread out and feel at home.

Hanoi’s apartments welcome families with playground courtyards, bilingual childcare, and kitchenettes for cooking classes.

BEST STAY I’ve ever been to. 10/10. The duplex is super clean and smells good. It’s so spacious, it feels luxurious to have something like this in this area. The bathroom was renovated and has all the items you need, such as soap, shampoo, toothpaste, etc. The washing machine is definitely a plus and also you’ll have a good night sleep, the property has good soundproofing and the neighbors aren’t noisy at all. The host Danny is very friendly and extremely professional. He will give you honest recommendations on the places you should visit and he’s super responsive. In terms of the area, it’s very alive and right next to the train. I’ve met incredible people around here and I’m just here for a few days. I’m definitely coming back to Danny’s place.

What could be improved: It’s literally IMPOSSIBLE to dislike this property. You’ll never had a better deal around this area.

Initially, my family was bit hesitant about the apartment as it was next to narrow lane to train street but the host himself hosted me and my family so well from early check in to Late check-out and taking updates of convenient stay in the apartment. The host always ensured a hassle free stay for me and my family. He just helped me out in every possible way not just related to my stay but also booking of cheap taxi to the airport. In short, it was a perfect stay at such a center location.

Very cozy spacious apartment. All necessary amenities for short and long stays. There are many shops and cafes nearby. 30 meters away is the famous street with the train. Comfortable bed and sofa. Good water pressure. The balcony and windows overlook a quiet courtyard. A very responsive owner, always in touch and ready to help with everything.
