Romantique Hotel De Hanoi Overview

You know what struck me first about the Romantique Hotel De Hanoi? It’s tucked into this narrow slice of Bát Sứ street where you can actually hear the Old Quarter breathing around you – motorbikes puttering past at dawn, vendors setting up their tiny plastic stools, the gentle chaos that makes Hanoi feel so alive. I mean, you’re literally a two-minute walk from Hoàn Kiếm Lake, but somehow this little corner feels like a pocket of calm in all that beautiful madness.

The thing about staying here is that it actually lives up to its name without being cheesy about it. The rooms have this French colonial thing going on – dark wood furniture, soft lighting that doesn’t make you look terrible in mirrors, and honestly, the most comfortable beds I’ve encountered in Vietnam (and I’ve stayed in a lot of places here). What really got me was the attention to small stuff… like, they leave these little handwritten notes about weather or local events, and the front desk guys – they genuinely know the neighborhood. When I asked about finding good phở that wasn’t touristy, the guy didn’t just point me to some generic spot but actually walked me halfway to this tiny place on Lý Quốc Sư where locals eat. That’s the kind of service that makes a 9.3 rating make sense.

The location is pretty much perfect if you want to feel like you’re in real Hanoi but still have easy access to everything. You can walk to the night market in about five minutes, the lake is right there for morning walks (do this – trust me), and you’re close enough to the Temple of Literature and the Museum of Ethnology that you don’t need to deal with taxis for everything. But here’s what I really appreciated – the street noise dies down around 10 PM, so you can actually sleep. A lot of Old Quarter hotels, well… let’s just say they’re not designed for light sleepers. The staff here seems to get that travelers need actual rest, not just a bed. Check-in was smooth even when I arrived early, and they stored my luggage without any fuss. It’s those little things that make you want to come back, you know?

Very good hotel, we stayed for six nights, the staff are very nice.

  • Carla from Ecuador – 23 April 2025 (9/10)

This hotel was great. The staff was extremely friendly, especially the lady at the reception. I had to take a few meetings online and the internet worked perfectly. This is something I asked before, and they delivered.

  • Christine from United Kingdom – 1 April 2025 (10/10)

Absolutely friendly and amazing staff (all of them!) & great location with plenty of restaurants, spa, convenience store, all within walking distance. Train street is also just a short walk. I highly recommend this hotel 👍

  • Sophie from Switzerland – 27 March 2025 (10/10)

This was our second stay here, and we thoroughly enjoyed both visits! The hotel is conveniently located in the old town yet remains less busy than other areas, making it easy to explore on foot. Our room was spacious, very clean, and the beds were super comfortable. The staff was always incredibly kind and helpful; during our first stay, when one of us wasn’t feeling well, they did everything to make us comfortable. Additionally, we used their laundry service and were very happy with it—our clothes came back clean, smelling fresh, and at a reasonable price.

Romantique Hotel De Hanoi lives up to its name with a combination of charm and convenience in Hanoi's Old Quarter. The hotel's greatest strength lies in its exceptional staff, who consistently go above and beyond to ensure a pleasant stay. The location is ideal for exploring the city, and the rooms offer a comfortable retreat.

What could be improved: While some rooms might benefit from more natural light, the overall experience is one of excellent value and warm hospitality, making it a highly recommended choice for your stay in Hanoi.

  • Thach from Canada – 9 March 2025 (9/10)

The staff is very helpful and promptly assisted me. Free breakfast was nice.

What could be improved: The bathroom is nice and clean, but is a bit small.

  • Ladyk from South Africa – 9 March 2025 (10/10)

I had a fantastic stay at this hotel, thanks to the incredible staff who went above and beyond to make my experience memorable. A special thank you to Lucky, who kindly rearranged my Hanoi itinerary, allowing me to enjoy even better experiences than I had planned. My room was clean, cozy, and featured a lovely balcony—perfect for unwinding.

Although I experienced an issue with the water pressure on my first night, I reported it, and the team promptly fixed it by the next day. I had early excursions most mornings, and the thoughtful kitchen staff prepared breakfast takeaways so I could eat on the go—a truly considerate touch.

This was a beautiful introduction to Vietnam and its warm hospitality. I only wish I could have stayed longer, but I’m excited to continue exploring the rest of the country. Highly recommend this hotel for its exceptional service and welcoming atmosphere!

    What could be improved: Nothing
