First Impressions

Walking into Shendo Vinhomes Metropolis, you immediately notice this isn’t your typical Hanoi hotel. The four-star property sits inside the sleek Vinhomes Metropolis complex on Liễu Giai street, and honestly, it feels more like staying in a high-end residential building than a traditional hotel. The lobby has that modern Vietnamese aesthetic — clean lines, warm wood accents, and just enough local touches to remind you where you are without being heavy-handed about it.

Location & Neighborhood

Ba Dinh district is actually one of my favorite parts of Hanoi to stay in, and this spot proves why. You’re close enough to the Old Quarter’s chaos when you want it (about a 10-minute taxi ride), but far enough away to actually get some peace. Liễu Giai street itself is pretty quiet, lined with cafes and local eateries that tourists haven’t really discovered yet. The fact that couples rate this place so highly makes perfect sense — there’s something romantic about having your own little corner of the city without feeling completely isolated from everything.

The Accommodation Experience

The rooms at Shendo Vinhomes Metropolis feel spacious in a way that’s rare for Hanoi hotels. I mean, you’re not going to mistake it for a penthouse, but there’s actual room to spread out your stuff and move around comfortably. The design leans contemporary with dark wood furniture and neutral tones — it’s sophisticated without trying too hard. What really impressed me was the attention to practical details: good lighting for reading, plenty of outlets positioned where you actually need them, and blackout curtains that work (trust me, this matters when you’re dealing with jet lag).

Practical Perks

Here’s something you don’t always find in central Hanoi — private parking right on site. If you’re planning to rent a motorbike or car to explore beyond the city, this is actually a huge deal. Most hotels in the area either don’t have parking or charge extra for it. The building itself has that new development feel with reliable elevators and good security, which gives you peace of mind when you’re coming and going at odd hours. You know what else I appreciated? The staff genuinely seems to know the neighborhood well and can point you toward local spots that aren’t in every guidebook.

  Location is good, easy to get a Grab into the city.
  Building is modern and clean.
  Apartment has plenty of space and has a great view of the city.
  
  What could be improved: In our 6 months of world travel to date we have never had any major issues and have never complained about a property until this place.
  Communication was difficult, via WhatsApp and no details were given until the day we were travelling there, asking for info while we were at airport and flying.
  Advert stated free early check-in. When requested, I was told I would have to pay. When queried and screenshot sent they changed mind and let us check in 45 minutes early. Very confusing check in, no door card until day 2. Needed facial ID to access lifts/building which we didn't get until day 6 of 7 so had to find someone to let us in each time.
  Advert stated free transfers, was told that was not included. When I sent screenshot, this was ignored.
  Apartment looked nothing like the photos, presume they have multiple apartments, ours was not to the standards pictured.
  Advertised as 3 beds – 3rd bed is a hard, narrow leather sofa, not a sofa bed as stated and no bedding for a 3rd bed anyway.
  Pool and Gym advertised – pool was 800,000 VND for the 4 of us each time to swim, we paid less to go to a water park for the day. Gym is not available to non-permanent residents.
  Air conditioning stopped working in the living area and we were told it was a building issue, it clearly wasn't as the air con worked in the other rooms and communal areas.
  Really made our stay in Hanoi a lot of hassle and stress which we have never experienced before.
  
  In short, the building is great if you don't mind paying for the pool but choose a different apartment with a different company – there are many.
