Shendo Vinhomes Metropolis Overview

Honestly, when I first walked into Shendo Vinhomes Metropolis, I wasn’t sure what to expect – it’s tucked inside this massive residential complex on Liễu Giai Street, which feels more like navigating a small city than finding a hotel. But you know what? That’s actually part of its charm. The lobby has this clean, modern vibe that screams “I’m trying to be upscale,” and while it mostly succeeds, there’s something refreshingly unpretentious about the whole setup.

The location is pretty solid if you know Hanoi at all. Ba Đình district means you’re close to the political heart of the city – the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum is literally a ten-minute walk away, though I’d skip it unless you’re into that sort of thing. What I really loved was being able to walk to those little coffee shops along Đội Cấn Street in the morning, where locals actually hang out instead of the tourist traps in the Old Quarter. The rooms themselves are decent for a four-star place – nothing that’ll blow your mind, but the beds are comfortable and the AC works well (crucial in Hanoi’s humidity, trust me). I did notice some noise from the street in the early morning, but it’s more like the gentle hum of motorbikes than actual disruptive noise… sort of becomes white noise after a while.

What surprised me most was how the staff actually seemed to know the neighborhood. When I asked about getting to the Temple of Literature without dealing with crazy traffic, the front desk guy gave me this specific route through back streets that I never would’ve found on my own. The breakfast spread is pretty standard – think continental with some Vietnamese touches – but the coffee is legitimately good, not that watered-down hotel stuff. The whole Vinhomes complex thing means there’s a decent supermarket downstairs if you need to grab snacks or forgotten essentials, which honestly saved me a trip when I realized I’d forgotten phone chargers. Sure, it’s not the most atmospheric place to stay if you’re looking for that authentic Hanoi experience, but if you want somewhere clean and comfortable that won’t break the bank, and you don’t mind being slightly outside the tourist bubble, it works really well. The 7.7 rating feels about right – it’s good at what it does without trying to be something it’s not.

Reviews of Shendo Vinhomes Metropolis

Location is good, easy to get a Grab into the city.
    Building is modern and clean.
Apartment has plenty of space and has a great view of the city.

What could be improved: In our 6 months of world travel to date we have never had any major issues and have never complained about a property until this place.
Communication was difficult, via WhatsApp and no details were given until the day we were travelling there, asking for info while we were at airport and flying.
Advert stated free early check-in. When requested, I was told I would have to pay. When queried and screenshot sent they changed mind and let us check in 45 minutes early. Very confusing check in, no door card until day 2. Needed facial ID to access lifts/building which we didn't get until day 6 of 7 so had to find someone to let us in each time.
Advert stated free transfers, was told that was not included. When I sent screenshot, this was ignored.
Apartment looked nothing like the photos, presume they have multiple apartments, ours was not to the standards pictured.
Advertised as 3 beds – 3rd bed is a hard, narrow leather sofa, not a sofa bed as stated and no bedding for a 3rd bed anyway.
Pool and Gym advertised – pool was 800,000 VND for the 4 of us each time to swim, we paid less to go to a water park for the day. Gym is not available to non-permanent residents.
Air conditioning stopped working in the living area and we were told it was a building issue, it clearly wasn't as the air con worked in the other rooms and communal areas.
Really made our stay in Hanoi a lot of hassle and stress which we have never experienced before.

In short, the building is great if you don't mind paying for the pool but choose a different apartment with a different company – there are many.
