Silk Path Hotel Hanoi Overview

Look, I’ve stayed at a lot of places in Hanoi’s Old Quarter, and honestly? The Silk Path Hotel on Hang Bong Street gets it right in ways that surprised me. When you first walk up – and you’ll know you’re close because you can smell the street food from Hang Buom just around the corner – the entrance feels more upscale than you’d expect wedged between all those narrow shophouses. But that’s the thing about this part of Hoan Kiem district, these little pockets of refinement just pop up when you least expect them.

What actually won me over wasn’t the lobby (though it’s pretty elegant for a 4-star) but how the staff handled the chaos that is Old Quarter navigation. I mean, good luck getting a taxi to find 195-199 Hang Bong the first time – the street numbers here are… well, let’s call them creative. But the front desk genuinely knows this. They’ll send you landmarks, tell you to look for the silk shop with the red awning, that sort of local intel that saves you twenty minutes of wandering around with your luggage. The rooms themselves are what you’d hope for – clean, well-appointed, and honestly pretty quiet considering you’re literally in the middle of one of Asia’s most chaotic neighborhoods. I was on the fourth floor facing the street and yeah, you’ll hear some motorbike action, but it dies down after 10 PM most nights.

Here’s what I really appreciated though – the location is just ridiculously well-positioned if you actually want to experience Hanoi rather than hide from it. You’re a three-minute walk from Hoan Kiem Lake (perfect for those 6 AM tai chi sessions if you’re into that), and more importantly, you’re right in the thick of the weekend night market madness. Friday and Saturday evenings, Hang Bong turns into this incredible pedestrian zone, and you can just pop downstairs and be part of it all. The hotel restaurant is decent but honestly, why would you eat there when you’ve got some of the city’s best street food literally outside your door? There’s this bánh mì lady who sets up her cart right at the Hang Buom intersection every morning around 7 – just saying. The 8.8 rating makes sense when you factor in that sweet spot they’ve found between comfort and authenticity. It’s polished enough that you feel taken care of, but not so isolated that you miss the energy that makes Hanoi addictive.

The hotel is on a main shopping street and close to the train street and hoan kiem lake. Even though the hotel is on a Main Street the hotel is very quiet inside. The breakfast buffet has a lot of variety. The staff is very helpful to help you choose activities, a spa or restaurant
