Somerset West Point Hanoi Overview
Honestly, when I first pulled up to Somerset West Point on Tay Ho Road, I wasn’t expecting much – I mean, serviced apartments can be hit or miss, right? But this place actually surprised me in the best way. The lobby has this understated elegance that doesn’t scream “look at me” like some of the flashier hotels downtown, and the staff genuinely seemed happy to see guests walk in, not just going through the motions.
What really sold me on this place is how it sits right in the sweet spot of Tay Ho district. You’re literally a five-minute walk from West Lake (which locals call Ho Tay), and I’d wake up early just to catch the sunrise reflecting off the water – there’s something about that morning mist that makes you forget you’re in a city of eight million people. The weekend night market on Quang An gets pretty lively, but here’s the thing: the hotel’s positioned just far enough back that you don’t get the chaos, but close enough that you can still hear the energy if you want it. The rooms themselves are spacious in a way that’s rare for Hanoi – I actually had a proper dining table where I could spread out my laptop and work, plus a kitchen that wasn’t just for show. The beds are firm (which I love, but heads up if you prefer softer), and honestly, the shower pressure was better than my apartment back home.
You know what impressed me most though? The little details that show someone’s actually thinking about what travelers need. There’s a proper washing machine in the room, not those tiny combo units that don’t really clean anything. The wifi reaches every corner without dropping out – crucial when you’re trying to video call family back home. And the concierge, this guy named Duc, actually knows the neighborhood like he lives here, not just the tourist spots everyone recommends. He pointed me toward this incredible bun cha place on a side street that I never would’ve found otherwise. The pool area gets busy around 4 PM when families come back from sightseeing, but mornings are perfect if you want to swim some laps in peace. Only minor gripe – the elevator can be slow during peak times, but that’s pretty standard for Hanoi buildings. If you’re staying here, grab a room facing the lake if you can swing it; the street-side rooms are fine, but that water view really makes a difference, especially during sunset when everything goes golden.

Near the Hồ Tây. Lots of restaurants, shops and hotels nearby. Very convenient.

Staff wonderful. Premier apartment was fabulous and huge. Everything you needed. We even were able to wash and driy our laundty with machine in the apartment. Had a lovely pool and even steam, sauna, gym. Breakfast was amazing. Beautiful reception area with piano player. It was about 10/15 mins in a taxi (70k) to old quarter but plenty of places to go around the area also. About 20-30 mins to airport depending on traffic.

Great location and incredibly attentive staff. You know you are somewhere good when they see you are doing washing and have a clothes rack delivered to your room without asking for one.
The family had a great time and the kids loved the facilities.
What could be improved: Would have been nicer if pool was a bit warmerMale from United Kingdom – 26 September 2024 (9/10)

The reception staffs were very friendly and customer oriented. Rooms were very clean and comfortable.
What could be improved: We booked one king bedroom and one twin bedroom. However, we were initially offered two king bedrooms. When I asked for the room to be changed, they immediately offered me another room which I requested. They were very helpful, but I wish that would not have happened in the first place.Erica from United Kingdom – 17 August 2024 (10/10)
