You know what caught me off guard about Splendid Holiday Hotel Spa? The name makes it sound like some massive resort complex, but it’s actually tucked into this narrow lane in the heart of Old Quarter that you’d walk right past if you weren’t looking for it. Ngõ Thọ Xương is one of those classic Hanoi alleys where motorbikes somehow squeeze through spaces that seem physically impossible, and honestly, that’s part of the charm here.

The thing is, once you’re inside, it feels like you’ve discovered this little sanctuary that somehow exists above all the beautiful chaos happening on the streets below. I mean, you can still hear the symphony of honking and street vendors – this is Hoan Kiem after all – but there’s something about the way they’ve designed the place that makes it feel separate without being disconnected. The spa part isn’t just a marketing add-on either; they’ve got this genuinely relaxing setup that actually makes sense after you’ve spent a day navigating the organized madness of the Old Quarter. The rooms are what I’d call thoughtfully done rather than flashy – good beds (which matters more than people think), decent soundproofing considering the location, and those little touches that show someone actually thought about what travelers need.

What really sold me on this place, though, is how the staff seems to get that balance between being helpful and not hovering. They know the neighborhood inside and out, which is invaluable when you’re trying to figure out whether that pho place around the corner is worth the inevitable wait, or how to get to the night market without getting completely turned around in the maze of similar-looking streets. The location itself is pretty brilliant if you think about it – you’re literally a few minutes’ walk from Hoan Kiem Lake, close enough to all the temple-hopping and street food adventures you came to Hanoi for, but on a side street that gives you a breather from the main tourist thoroughfares. I stayed here during both the sweltering summer months and the surprisingly chilly winter, and somehow the place works year-round. That 9.4 rating isn’t just people being nice – it’s the kind of score you get when a place consistently delivers on what it promises without trying to be something it’s not.

  The location is great since it is right in Old Quarter, walkable distance to some attractions, and accessible for tour pickup. The bed was super comfortable, and the room was cleaned every day .The staff was very accomadating.
