Sushi House Quoc Tu Giam 202 Overview
Okay, so first thing – don’t let the name fool you. I know “Sushi House” sounds like you’re staying above a restaurant, but this little 4-star gem tucked into Ngõ Lương Sử C is actually a proper boutique hotel that just happens to have some serious food game. When I first walked down that narrow alley (and I mean narrow – you’ll definitely hear the motorbikes puttering by), I honestly wasn’t sure what to expect. But stepping inside? Complete transformation. The lobby has this clean, modern vibe that somehow still feels warm, and the staff actually remembered my name by day two, which never happens at bigger places.
What really got me was how they’ve managed to create this peaceful bubble right in the heart of Dong Da district. You’re literally a five-minute walk from the chaos of Khâm Thiên Street – where you can grab the best bánh mì at like 6 AM if you’re into that – but inside the hotel, it’s surprisingly quiet. Well, except for the early morning street food vendors setting up, but honestly, that’s part of the charm. The rooms are smaller than what you might be used to (this is Hanoi, after all), but they’ve maximized every inch really cleverly. The bed was actually comfortable, which I can’t say for half the places I’ve stayed in Vietnam, and the bathroom – okay, it’s compact, but the water pressure was fantastic and it stayed hot. Small victories, you know?
The breakfast deserves its own mention because they do this fusion thing that somehow works. Traditional Vietnamese options alongside some Japanese touches (hence the sushi house connection, I guess), and the phở they serve around 7 AM is legitimately good. Not street-cart incredible, but way better than hotel food has any right to be. Location-wise, you’re in this sweet spot where you can walk to the Temple of Literature in about fifteen minutes, but you’re also close enough to the Old Quarter that a taxi ride won’t break the bank. The area gets pretty lively in the evenings – there’s this corner bia hơi spot that locals hit up around 6 PM, and the energy is infectious. Just know that if you’re a super light sleeper, pack earplugs because Vietnamese cities don’t really do “quiet hours.” That said, I slept better here than at places twice the price because there’s something about the neighborhood that just feels authentic. The 8.9 rating makes total sense to me – it’s not trying to be the fanciest place in town, but everything they do, they do well. If you want to feel like you’re actually staying in Hanoi rather than some international hotel bubble, this is your spot.

What could be improved: Location is not great, it takes 15-20 min to Old Quarter. Hard to find in a back street. There is a fruit & vegetable market in front of it every day chaos, so traffic and noisy. The room has no light, the window overlooks the stairs. We constantly listened to the crying child of a Vietnamese family on the side apartment. I stayed many hotels in Hanoi, every hotel serves free drinking water but this apart does not even serve welcoming free water. The kitchen utensils are not usable. Also I stayed only 2 nights but The sink was leaking as you see photo. The owner tried to help and send repairman. Nobody wants to deal with these problems for 2 nights. Before check-in process, they should have control.

Spacious apartment and good price
What could be improved: When we arrived we could not get in. The communication with the owner was bad. Some other people staying let us in after 30 minutes. The location is 30 minutes walk from old town.Bill from China – 4 April 2025 (9/10)

Private bathroom, spacious, quite close to the city, nearby train station. Overall I would stay there again
What could be improved: Basic kitchen, microwave did not work, and it was not easy to find that spot but I guess that is not the only place hard to find in hanoi.Gerry from Australia – 25 September 2024 (9/10)
the location is nice and central, not far to old quarter and close to nearby historic sites. can walk to either. the apartment itself is amazing. Very comfortable to be in no complaints at all.

It’s my second time staying in this aprtment and everything was perfect! The room was cozy and well-maintained, with all the amenities one could need. The decor was tasteful, combining modern comforts with a touch of local culture. The bed was incredibly comfortable, ensuring a good night’s sleep after a day of exploring.

The room is really spacious and bed is very comfortable. The price of the room is really worth it! You can come in and out anytime since the owner will provide you your own key for the main door.
