You know what caught me off guard about this place? I walked past it twice before realizing this was actually my hotel. The 12 A&B Điện Biên Phủ sits right there on one of Hanoi’s main arteries, but it’s got this sort of understated elegance that doesn’t scream “tourist hotel” – which, honestly, I loved. The building’s got that modern Vietnamese architectural thing going on, clean lines but not sterile, and when you step inside, there’s this immediate sense that someone actually thought about the details here.

The location is pretty brilliant if you ask me. I mean, Điện Biên Phủ street gets busy during rush hour – you’ll hear the motorbike symphony that’s just part of Hanoi life – but by evening it settles into this nice urban rhythm. You’re literally a five-minute walk from the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum area, which sounds touristy but is actually where a lot of locals hang out in the early mornings doing tai chi. The staff seemed genuinely surprised when I mentioned I’d been watching the sunrise crowds there, like they weren’t used to guests who wandered that direction. Ba Dinh district has this interesting mix of government buildings and everyday Vietnamese life – you’ll see officials in crisp shirts grabbing the same street food as construction workers, and somehow this hotel fits right into that vibe.

What really got me was the attention to things that actually matter when you’re staying somewhere. The Wi-Fi worked perfectly (tested it immediately, as you do), the air conditioning was quiet enough that I could sleep with it running, and – this might sound weird – but the shower pressure was exactly what you need after walking around Hanoi all day in the humidity. The rooms have this contemporary feel without trying too hard to be trendy, and the beds are firm in that good way that doesn’t leave you with a sore back. I stayed on the sixth floor and could see little glimpses of daily Hanoi life happening below – vendors setting up, kids heading to school, the organized chaos that makes this city work. The 9.3 rating makes total sense once you’re there; it’s not flashy luxury, but everything just… works the way it should. Plus, the front desk folks actually knew their neighborhood – when I asked about finding good bun cha nearby, they didn’t just point me to the tourist spots but mentioned this tiny place two blocks over where I ended up having one of my best meals in Hanoi.

  Very clean, great views, friendly and welcoming staff, loved the interior, great and walkable location – very bearby to famous train tracks and cafes. Buffet breakfast was amazing!

  This hotel deserves to be a five star.. cleanliness and breakfast top notch.. rooms have netflix.. breakfast has a beautiful terrace view to train street.. absolutely fantastic place.. dont miss it

  The hotel was very clean and the room was comfortable and new, with no noise from outside. Above all, the location of the hotel was excelent: very close to the city centre and to the main monuments of Hanoi.

  The location is perfect, the hotel is very new, the staff is very attentive and kind.
  
  The breakfast should be improved. But it's not bad. Just it is every day exactly the same and there is not much choice.
  
  I might have been unlucky, but I didn't have good cleaning of my room in 5 days. The soap was not refilled, the bathroom was not cleaned, they just changed the towels and made the bed. And the shower has a constructive problem, so plenty of water was always on the floor.

  What could be improved: Breakfast was not great, though the roof top restaurant is nice; if your room is close to the elevator be prepared for an annoying ‘ding’ sound as people use the elevator (it is quite loud)

  I booked last min, and my queries were answered very quickly online
  
  The location is amazing, I didn't realise it was 30 seconds from the train street, you come out of the hotel and turn left and there you are! There are lots of decent restaurants to choose from and really safe to walk at silly time in the morning.
  
  The room was really clean and the decor was exactly like the pictures!
  
  The first time ever I've seen a heat lamp in a shower, confused, yes, so was I, but it was magic when swapping between shower heads.
  
  The bed was really comfortable, and the pillows were fantastic.
  
  Breakfast had to be ordered the night before and also for me a safety measure to make sure you're back.
  
  Staff are really kind, and Vivian Vo is a super star 🌟 🤩 👌🏾 👍🏿. She remembered when I was leaving early and had breakfast prepared. I like to go where the locals go, and she recommended a buffet vietnamese style in West lake, very good, and I enjoyed the tips on posing for photos
  
  What could be improved: Air con was a little tricky, either cold or hot, just couldn't work it well.. maybe user issue and nor the hotel 😀
  
  Telly needed tuning, asked a few times but wasn't done.

  Hotel is new, clean, modern facilities, can walk to the center really fast and chill, the staff are really nice and supportive, breakfast doesn't have several choices but the taste is really good, the most impressed thing is that the price is so cheap compared to the good quality. Having really best experience at this wonderful hotel. Will choose here to stay on next trip.

  I had a wonderful stay at 12A&B Hotel Dien Bien Phu, Hanoi. The hotel is located in a convenient area, making it easy to explore nearby attractions. The rooms were clean, modern, and well-equipped with all the necessary amenities. The staff was extremely friendly and always ready to assist with any requests.
