2BR Cultural house in the Heart of Old Quarter Washer&Dryer Overview
Look, I’ve stayed in plenty of places around Hanoi’s Old Quarter, but this 2BR spot on Lương Ngọc Quyến really surprised me. The whole “cultural house” thing isn’t just marketing fluff – you can actually feel it when you walk in. There’s this perfect balance between traditional Vietnamese touches and, well, actually having a washing machine that works (honestly, you don’t realize how much you miss doing laundry until you’re three weeks into a Southeast Asia trip wearing the same five shirts). The location is pretty much ideal if you want to be in the thick of things but not directly on one of those crazy busy streets where motorbikes are honking at 6 AM. You’re about a two-minute walk from the weekend night market chaos, but the actual building sits on a quieter stretch where you can sleep with the windows open.
What really got me was how the owners set this place up – it feels like someone’s actual home, not a sterile Airbnb. The two bedrooms are generous by Old Quarter standards, and there’s enough space to spread out your stuff without tripping over each other. The kitchen is surprisingly well-equipped; I mean, you’re not going to be cooking elaborate meals when you’ve got bún chả spots on every corner, but having a proper fridge and coffee setup makes morning routines so much easier. The washer and dryer situation is legit too – not one of those combo units that takes six hours and leaves everything damp. I actually found myself doing laundry more often than usual just because it was so convenient, which sounds silly but trust me, it matters when you’re traveling light.
The neighborhood knowledge you pick up just by staying here is worth it alone. You’re practically neighbors with some of the best street food vendors who’ve been working the same corners for decades – there’s this bánh mì lady about 50 meters toward Hàng Bồ who starts setting up around 7 AM, and her bread is consistently better than the tourist-heavy spots. Walking to Hoàn Kiếm Lake takes maybe eight minutes, but you’ll discover these little alleyways and hidden temples that most people rush past. The area gets pretty lively on weekends (you know, that good kind of lively with families out eating and kids playing), but it’s not the drunk backpacker scene you get closer to the beer corners. Honestly, the 8.1 rating feels about right – it’s solidly good without being perfect. The WiFi occasionally gets spotty during heavy rain, and the hot water takes a minute to kick in, but these are minor things. For what you’re paying and where you are, it’s genuinely hard to beat if you want to feel like you’re actually living in Hanoi for a few days rather than just passing through.

Very central and with good washing machine and dryer
What could be improved: A bit damp smellingMkhail from United States – 12 March 2025 (7/10)
The location was great in the middle of old quarters with lots of restaurants and spa options. The owner very responsive and gave us discounted certificate to a spa – got a great massage!
What could be improved: The property does not have a normal window, kinda dark and gloomy. There is no privacy in any room as no doors to close.Julian from Germany – 11 March 2025 (9/10)

Lovely, retro apartment which was clean and with good facilities. Location was great and right in the centre of the bars and restaurants, also felt very safe
What could be improved: You had to collect the check-in information from a separate place a 4 minute walk away and the apartment is down an alley.Syazwani from Malaysia – 3 July 2024 (9/10)

– Located right at Hanoi beer street, for those who fancy night life this is a big plus point
– Spacious property
– Strong and fast Wi-Fi
– Host is helpful and attentive to our problem
What could be improved: – Property is a little dusty when we arrive, however the host did send someone to clean up again next day, so it was fine after that
– During our stay in Hanoi, the weather was bad and high in humidity, thus it attracts all kind of insects (cockroaches, mosquitoes) whenever it rains heavily, we spent our first night trying to kill few cockroaches in the living room -.-
– The property is located on the ground floor hence we think it is home to the insects
– No lights from the tiny corridor to the property, it looks scary if a girl to go in and out alone at night
– Safety of the property is still big concern because only 1 door lock, it looks easily be broken by outsider, even window is not locked (outside can see through inside if any outsider opens the window)
– Washing machine is not working well, keep on DC that we have to keep pressing restart else our clothes are not rinsed and it will stop spinningBenjamin from United Kingdom – 17 May 2024 (9/10)
Staff made a WhatsApp group chat with me to help if we had any queries. Location is in the heart of Hanoi so everything is in walking distance.
What could be improved: Didn’t like the shower….. Until I noticed the clearly labelled “water pressure” switch. Shower is great I’m just an idiot.Stephen from Ireland – 30 May 2023 (6/10)
Location , at the heart of everything.
What could be improved: Had a stove top but No pots or pans.
