Look, I’ve stayed at a lot of places in Hanoi, and AJISAI Hotel honestly surprised me in the best way possible. It’s tucked into this narrow alley off Núi Trúc Street – you know, one of those typical Hanoi side streets where you’re wondering if your taxi driver actually knows where he’s going. But once you find it (and you will, just look for the small sign), you realize you’ve stumbled onto something pretty special.

The thing about this place is that it gets the balance right – it’s got that boutique hotel feel without trying too hard to be fancy. I mean, 10 floors sounds impressive until you remember this is Hanoi, where buildings shoot up like bamboo, but they’ve actually used the space well. My room on the 7th floor had this surprisingly decent view over the neighborhood rooftops, and honestly, watching the organized chaos of motorbikes weaving through the alley below became my morning entertainment. The rooms themselves are what I’d call thoughtfully designed – not huge, but everything has its place, and the bed was actually comfortable (which, let’s be real, isn’t always a given even at four-star places here). The bathroom was modern and clean, though the shower pressure varied depending on what time of day it was – typical for this part of the city.

What really won me over was the location, though I’m guessing most tourists might miss why it’s so perfect. You’re in Ba Dinh district, which means you’re close to the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum and all that, but more importantly – and this is the part travel websites never tell you – you’re walking distance from some genuinely great local spots. There’s this pho place about three blocks away that locals actually go to, not just tourists, and the weekend market nearby is where you’ll find stuff you can’t get in the Old Quarter. Plus, getting a Grab from here to anywhere central takes maybe 10 minutes, even in traffic.

The staff deserve a mention too – they’re helpful without being hovering, if that makes sense. When I needed directions to find a specific lacquerware shop (long story), the guy at the front desk actually drew me a little map and called ahead to make sure they’d be open. That kind of thing matters when you’re trying to make the most of a short trip. Check-in was smooth, and they let me store my bags for a few hours after checkout, which saved me from dragging everything around on my last day.

I should mention that the neighborhood gets pretty quiet after about 10 PM – which is either perfect or boring, depending on what you’re after. If you want to stumble back from bars at 2 AM, maybe look elsewhere. But if you appreciate being able to actually sleep and then wake up to explore the city properly, this works really well. The hotel itself has 18 rooms total, so it never feels crowded or impersonal. With a 9.2 rating, I wasn’t the only one who appreciated what they’re doing here – and honestly, that rating feels about right.

  管理のお母さんがとても素敵な方です！
  人との出会いが楽しみの旅で、とても親切で友好的に接していただき旅のスタートから大満足です。
  部屋も３人で利用しましたが、広すぎるくらい広く、清潔でとてもくつろげました。３人で3泊でお値段もかなり安く感じます。ホテル周辺もベトナムならではの美味しいお店がたくさんあり、何を食べても美味しくて、コンビニも近く大変便利です。次回もまた利用したいです！！

  The property looked just like the pictures. It was clean, very comfortable and spacious. The wifi was high speed and you can sign into Netflix on the TV. The apartment is located in a quiet alley way with win marts on the same street. It is a great location and is easy to book Ubers just by walking down the street. This was the perfect place! Thankyou!
  
  What could be improved: The rooms weren’t cleaned when we put the tag on the door. We stayed for 6nights, it would have been nice to have the roomed cleaned a few times.

  We love how clean and modern look of the place. Very sleek and comfortable! Loved that it had a washer and 2 bathrooms.
  
  What could be improved: Location: Didn’t like the location so much as it was hard to get taxis to and from there. It’s also located in an alley so cars can’t enter. we had to walk with kids late at night in a dark unlit alley.
  
  Facility: we specified we were traveling with kids & after a long travel day, our son was not happy & cried a bit. We were notified by the front desk clerk to keep it down within the first 30 mins of checking in & it was a little hard for us to feel comfortable after. We tried being out all day & coming back just to sleep to avoid having issues with the hotel about the noise. We tried being understanding of other guests as well.
