You know what caught me off guard about Fukurai Hotel & Apartment 2? It’s tucked away in this tiny alley off Lieu Giai Street, and I mean tiny – you’ll walk past the entrance twice before you spot the subtle signage. But honestly, that’s part of its charm. Ba Dinh district isn’t where most tourists end up, which means you’re staying where actual Hanoians live and work, not in some sanitized bubble.

The building itself is one of those narrow, tall structures you see all over Hanoi – typical Vietnamese urban architecture squeezed into whatever space they could find. My room was surprisingly spacious though, with this big window that looked out over the neighborhood’s maze of rooftops and satellite dishes. You can actually hear the city waking up in the morning – motorbikes starting up, street vendors calling out, that authentic Hanoi soundtrack that some hotels try to shield you from with thick glass and white noise machines. The staff speaks decent English, and check-in was smooth, though I’d recommend calling ahead if you’re arriving late since the entrance can be tricky to find after dark.

What I really appreciated was how they’ve managed to feel like a proper hotel while keeping apartment-style practicalities. The kitchenette actually works (not always a given in Vietnam), and there’s enough space to spread out your stuff without living out of a suitcase. The WiFi holds up well – I was working remotely for part of my stay and didn’t have the usual connectivity headaches. Location-wise, you’re about a 15-minute walk to the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum and that whole tourist area, but you’re also close to some genuinely good local spots. There’s this incredible pho place just two blocks away that I stumbled onto – the kind where you’re the only foreigner and the broth is so good it ruins you for tourist-trap versions. The 7.8 rating feels about right, actually. It’s not luxury by any stretch, and the elevator is… well, let’s call it cozy. But for the price point and the experience of staying in a real Hanoi neighborhood rather than the Old Quarter circus, it delivers. I’d definitely stay here again, especially if I wanted to feel more connected to how the city actually works rather than just passing through it.

  Really easy check-in process. They upgraded me to a bigger room. It was clean and spacious and great value. Walking distance to the Lotte Observation Deck, department store and mall.

  We were able to be upgraded to a bigger room and it was perfect for our stay! Probably our favourite stay from 6 weeks in Vietnam. The location is quite far from Hanoi Old Quarter so if you're keen to head to the centre often you will want to get grabs – but we enjoyed the shops and restaurants around us so it didn't bother us to be outside the main center for a few days. Very convenient! The staff were lovely and always willing to help you with anything you need.
  
  What could be improved: Some more cutlery and crockery would be good in the studio apartments. We didn't have a complete set.

  it's not close to the Old Quarter nor within walking distance, but it is pretty close to Lotte Tower and some other landmarks.
  the room is super nice but I can hear the noise from the reception. overall great value if you just stay there for 1-2 days. and the staff is super nice and very helpful.

  Nice English speaking reception and clean environment. The location is more residential area but still convenience for food and convenience stores.

  Fukurai is put in a perfect location, which helps my travelling plan easier to go the west or the east side of Hanoi. The surrounding area is vibrant, dynamic but not loudsy which fits my preferences a lot. The room is clean, cozy and has strong Wifi (definitely a plus for remote worker like me)
  
  What could be improved: The breakfast though was tasty but lack of diverse choices. Could improve the breakefast menu.
