An Nam Art House Overview

First Impressions

Walking into An Nam Art House feels like discovering a hidden gallery that happens to have beds. This four-star boutique property sits right in the thick of Hoan Kiem district, and honestly, the location alone makes it worth considering. The lobby immediately signals that this isn’t your typical business hotel — there’s actual art on the walls, not just generic prints, and the staff genuinely seems to care about making your stay memorable rather than just checking you in.

Location & Neighborhood

You know what’s great about staying here? You’re literally steps away from everything that matters in Old Quarter Hanoi. I mean, Hoan Kiem Lake is practically your backyard, and those winding streets full of street food vendors and local shops are right outside your door. The property scored an 8.7 for location, which makes perfect sense when you realize you can walk to most major attractions without dealing with Hanoi’s notorious traffic. Couples especially seem to love this spot — there’s something romantic about being able to stroll to lakeside cafes for morning coffee or evening drinks without any planning.

The Rooms

The rooms actually live up to the “art house” name, with thoughtful design touches that feel authentic rather than trying too hard. Each space has character — some feature local artwork, others have interesting architectural details that remind you you’re staying somewhere with personality. The beds are comfortable (important after long days exploring), and the bathrooms are well-appointed without being overly fancy. What I appreciated most was how quiet the rooms stay despite being in such a central location — good soundproofing is crucial in this part of Hanoi.

Service & Amenities

The staff here knows their neighborhood, which makes a huge difference when you’re trying to navigate Hanoi for the first time. They’ll point you toward the best pho spots that locals actually eat at, not just tourist traps. The hotel maintains that upscale feel without being stuffy — you get attentive service without feeling like you’re being watched. There’s reliable wifi throughout (essential for staying connected), and the common areas provide nice spaces to plan your day or just decompress after wandering the chaotic but wonderful streets outside.

Why Guests Love It

An Nam Art House hits that sweet spot between authentic local character and modern comfort that’s honestly pretty rare in Hanoi’s hotel scene. You’re not sacrificing location for charm or vice versa — you get both. The fact that it consistently attracts couples makes sense; there’s something intimate about the scale and attention to detail here that larger hotels just can’t match. Plus, when you can walk to Hoan Kiem Lake for sunrise photos or late-night street food adventures, you’ll understand why the location score is so high. It’s the kind of place where you actually want to come back to your room rather than just crash there.

Reviews of An Nam Art House

  • Junko from Japan – 28 March 2025 (9/10)

    What could be improved: 上階に行くほどシャワーの圧が弱く、チョロチョロとしかお湯が出なかった。
    日中は、目の前のカフェや表通りの工事の音などが響いてくる。
    支払いはドルかベトナムドンのキャッシュのみで、集金に来たスタッフは領収証を提示しなかった。

  • Amit from India – 6 January 2025 (8/10)

location, ease of check-in and spacious rooms

What could be improved: limited cutlery and no toiletries, and even the cooking pan was not clean.
Note: getting a heavy suitcase on the 4th floor on narrow stairs was a little challenging.

  • Katy from Canada – 4 January 2025 (7/10)

    location was great

What could be improved: so many stairs, also towel were old and just one small bath towel , no hand towel and no bath mat,
Also there was a very bad smell on one of the days in the entrance which was more like sewage smell.

  • Stephanie from Australia – 15 October 2024 (9/10)

Rooms were very spacious and airconditioned. Most rooms were clean and had everything well provided. We had some issues with one room but the host was able to resolve it quickly with us. She communicated well and promptly

  • Harrison from Australia – 27 July 2024 (8/10)

I was a bit hesitant to book here due to the few reviews, but my wife still wanted to stay here because the location of the apartment was very convenient for our trip. Contrary to our concerns, the room turned out to be spacious and very comfortable. The host also thoughtfully gave us a small, lovely gift.

  • Arno from France – 27 July 2024 (9/10)

  • Perrin from France – 27 June 2024 (8/10)

J'ai réservé une chambre familiale au dernier étage. Même s'il n'y a pas d'ascenseur, les gens de la famille d'accueil sont très disposés à vous en parler. Belle vue. Pratique à déplacer. Je reviendrai lors des prochaines vacances.

  • Maddison from United Kingdom – 26 June 2024 (8/10)

Love the decoration, sweet-smelling, surrounding neibourhood here. And the host is really helpful, friendly and lovely.
