Anatole Hotel Hanoi Overview
You know what hit me first when I walked into the Anatole Hotel Hanoi? The lobby actually feels like Vietnam – not some international chain that could be anywhere in the world. They’ve got this perfect balance of French colonial elegance and Vietnamese warmth that honestly makes sense when you’re sitting right in the heart of Hoan Kiem district. The location on Nha Chung street is… well, it’s one of those spots where you realize someone really knew what they were doing when they picked it.
I mean, you’re literally a three-minute walk from Hoan Kiem Lake, which sounds touristy until you’re there at 6 AM watching the tai chi groups and realizing this is just daily life happening around you. The Old Quarter chaos is close enough that you can dive into the street food scene on Hang Trong whenever the mood strikes (and trust me, it will), but the hotel itself sits on a quieter stretch where you can actually sleep at night. The staff – and I’m not just saying this – they actually remember your name after day one, which is rarer than you’d think in a five-star place. There’s this one concierge, Minh, who gave me directions to a pho place that doesn’t even have a sign, just a woman with two plastic stools who makes the best broth I’ve had in Hanoi.
The rooms themselves are spacious by Vietnam standards, with these big windows that let in actual light – something you’ll appreciate after staying in some of the cramped places around the Old Quarter. They’ve clearly spent money on the details that matter: the air conditioning that doesn’t sound like a freight train, blackout curtains that work, and honestly the best shower pressure I encountered in three weeks of traveling through Southeast Asia. The breakfast spread is solid without being overwhelming, though I’d skip it some mornings just to grab banh mi from the vendor who sets up right outside around 7 AM. What really sets this place apart is how they handle the little things – your laundry comes back folded better than you’d do it yourself, and when I mentioned I was heading to Sa Pa, they arranged a car that actually showed up on time with a driver who spoke enough English to recommend stops along the way. It’s that 9.5 rating in action, I guess – they’re not just meeting expectations, they’re anticipating the stuff you didn’t even know you needed.

Lovely customer service by all staff. Spacious and modern rooms with complimentary water included. Large bathroom with blockout blinds. Great location in easy walking distance to shops, restaurants and the Lake. High tea vouchers were offered at arrival and 3 items of laundry daily was a bonus.
What could be improved: Although it says there are slippers in the room, they are in fact thongs not slippers. No body lotion in bathroom.Jan-olof from Sweden – 29 May 2025 (10/10)
Our stay was awesome. The staff was very friendly and helpful and the service was great. Breakfast was really good. The location central where we wanted to be and the rooftop bar is the perfect place to wrap up the evening.

Anatole Hotel was a great choice for our stay in Hanoi. The location is perfect, just a short walk from the Cathedral and the lake. The hotel itself is beautiful, with spacious and well-equipped rooms, and a rooftop pool that’s perfect for relaxing after a day of exploring.

Beautiful hotel, short walk from the main hustle and bustle of old quarter. Very clean. Great rooftop infinity pool with good view. We got the window room which was spacious, clean and we didn’t find it noisy at all like some other reviews mentioned. The staff were all so polite, cocktails on the rooftop exceeded our expectations. Breakfast buffet was varied daily and had enough selection. We will definitely Choose Anatole again.
What could be improved: The fitness centre is only a small room with minimal equipment, but there are good gyms around Hanoi anyway.
