Vinhomes Ocean Park is one of those newer mega-projects in Gia Lam, and while it’s technically outside central Hanoi, it doesn’t feel isolated at all. The whole area has this weird energy where you’ve got families walking around the artificial beaches (yeah, they built beaches here), kids on bikes everywhere, and this constant hum of construction as they keep expanding. Ruby Tower sits right in the thick of it all, and from up there on the 28th floor, you can see the whole sprawling layout – it’s actually pretty impressive, even if it feels a bit like living in a sci-fi movie.

The apartment itself is solid – I mean, it’s a proper one-bedroom with a kitchen that actually works, not one of those sad hotel kitchenettes with a broken microwave. The whole place feels clean and modern, though you can tell it’s designed for longer stays rather than quick hotel visits. What I really appreciated was how quiet it gets at night, which honestly shocked me because during the day there’s always something happening outside – maintenance crews, delivery trucks, families heading to the lake areas. But somehow the soundproofing works, or maybe it’s just being up so high. The building management is pretty on top of things too – I had an issue with the key card and they sorted it out in like ten minutes, which is refreshing because you never know what you’re going to get with these apartment-style bookings.

Here’s the thing though – you need to understand what you’re getting into location-wise. This isn’t old Hanoi with the motorbike chaos and street food on every corner. Vinhomes Ocean Park is this planned community thing with wide boulevards, designated shopping areas, and rules about everything. It’s clean, it’s safe, there are parks and playgrounds everywhere, but it’s also sort of… controlled? Like living in a really nice bubble. Getting into central Hanoi takes about 30-40 minutes depending on traffic, and honestly, the taxi drivers sometimes get confused about which entrance to use because this place is enormous. But if you’re looking for a break from the intensity of downtown Hanoi, or if you’re traveling with kids, this setup is actually pretty genius. Plus there’s something oddly satisfying about having your own space up in the clouds, with a proper fridge and the ability to do laundry, while still being close enough to hit the Old Quarter whenever you want that authentic Vietnamese chaos. The 9-star rating makes sense to me – it’s not trying to be a luxury hotel, it’s just doing the serviced apartment thing really well.
