You know what surprised me most about Boulevard Rollandes house? It’s tucked away on the second floor of this narrow building on Hai Bà Trưng street, and honestly, I almost walked right past it. The address says room 208, which sounds sort of weird until you realize it’s actually this intimate guesthouse setup that feels more like staying at a really stylish friend’s place than a typical hotel. The entrance is easy to miss if you’re not paying attention – there’s just a small sign, but once you climb those stairs, you’re in for something pretty special.

The location is actually perfect if you want to be in the thick of Old Quarter life without dealing with the absolute chaos of the main tourist drags. Hai Bà Trưng runs parallel to the lake, so you’re literally a two-minute walk from Hoàn Kiếm Lake’s northern edge, but you’re on this quieter street where locals actually live and work. I mean, there’s still the usual Hanoi symphony of motorbikes and street vendors, but it’s not overwhelming. What I loved was stepping out in the morning and immediately smelling phở from the tiny place next door – you can’t get that authentic neighborhood vibe when you’re staying in some big hotel district. The staff clearly knows the area inside and out too; they pointed me toward this incredible bún chả spot about three blocks away that I never would’ve found on my own.

The rooms themselves have this clean, modern aesthetic that somehow doesn’t feel sterile or generic. Everything’s thoughtfully done – good lighting (which is rarer than you’d think in budget-friendly Hanoi accommodations), actually comfortable beds, and thank god, proper air conditioning that doesn’t sound like a helicopter taking off. The bathroom was spotless, hot water worked perfectly, and they even had these nice toiletries that didn’t feel like an afterthought. I stayed during peak season in October, and while the street gets busy during the day, it quiets down nicely in the evenings. The 9.4 rating honestly makes sense – it’s not trying to be fancy or pretentious, but everything just works the way it should. Check-in was smooth, the WiFi was solid (important when you’re trying to navigate Hanoi’s wonderfully confusing street system), and the whole place has this attention to detail that you don’t always get at this price point. If you’re looking for somewhere that puts you right in the heart of things without the tourist trap markup, and you want to feel like you’re actually experiencing Hanoi rather than just visiting it, this place gets it right.

  Die Unterkunft liegt optimal es ist alles zu Fuß erreichbar. Der Gastgeber ist absolut zu empfehlen hilft bei allen Fragen weiter und spricht perfektes englisch. Ich bin als Gast gekommen und als Freund gegangen. War mit abstand mein bester Aufenthalt in Hanoi. Ich werde nächstes Jahr wieder kommen.
