Camellia Residence Hanoi Overview
You know what’s funny about Hanoi hotel hunting? You get so focused on staying in the Old Quarter that you almost miss gems like Camellia Residence. I’m actually glad I ended up here on Triệu Việt Vương street instead – it’s this perfect sweet spot where you’re still central but not drowning in motorbike exhaust every time you step outside.
The first thing that hit me walking into this place was how quiet it felt, which honestly surprised me given we’re still pretty much in the heart of things. The lobby’s got this boutique hotel vibe without trying too hard, if that makes sense. Check-in was smooth – no weird deposit drama or confusing explanations about the WiFi password being taped under your nightstand. The staff actually remembered my name by day two, which doesn’t always happen at bigger places. My room was on the fifth floor (there’s an elevator, thank god) and the view wasn’t spectacular or anything, but you could see little slices of daily Hanoi life happening below – people on their morning coffee runs, the organized chaos of street vendors setting up shop.
What really sold me on this place was all the little details that show someone’s actually thinking about what travelers need. The bathroom had proper water pressure – I mean, really good pressure, not that sad trickle you sometimes get. The bed was firm enough that I didn’t wake up feeling like I’d been sleeping on a marshmallow, and the AC was quiet, which matters more than you’d think when you’re trying to adjust to the time difference. Location-wise, you’re maybe a ten-minute walk to Hoàn Kiếm Lake, but more importantly, you’re right near some fantastic local spots that aren’t overrun with tour groups. There’s this incredible bún chả place just a few blocks down that I probably never would’ve found if I’d stayed in the tourist bubble. The neighborhood has that lived-in feel where you see the same faces at the corner shop, but it’s not so residential that finding a decent coffee at 7 AM becomes a mission. Honestly, the 9.5 rating makes sense once you’ve been there a few days – it’s not flashy or Instagram-perfect, but everything just works the way it’s supposed to. Sometimes that’s exactly what you want when you’re trying to actually experience a city instead of just checking boxes on your itinerary.

Marine from Georgia – 22 April 2025 (8/10)
The rooms with balcony are great! Specious and clean, with amazing local design. Location is also good not noisy. We stayed on a six floor.
What could be improved: The staff was a bit too money oriented. They made a drama for being 15 minutes late check out, even though it was not our fault. They also charge extra for laying with card and generally the vibe is not nice from the staff.Abhishek from India – 29 March 2025 (10/10)

What could be improved: I would prefer a walk in shower and the sealant around the bath was long overdue a refreshVelislav from Bulgaria – 25 March 2025 (10/10)

The room was stunning and extremely clean. The facilities in the room were amazing, it was great to be able to do our own washing. I really like the water cooler with unlimited filtered water and the kitchenette area.

Quaint old french/vietnam style building, of course modernized. Very homely and also quiet even though in the central city. service by the staff was very good. Nearby all the central city sites and outside the hotel cafes/shops/restaurants etc.
