It’s not actually a hotel at all – it’s this beautifully converted apartment building on Thai Thinh Street, and honestly, that makes all the difference. I mean, you’re staying in what feels like a proper Hanoi neighborhood rather than some tourist bubble. The building itself has this solid, no-nonsense vibe that screams “locals live here too,” which I absolutely loved. Thai Thinh is one of those streets that’s busy enough to feel alive but not so crazy that you can’t sleep – though if you’re a super light sleeper, maybe pack earplugs because Hanoi never really goes completely quiet. The check-in was surprisingly smooth for what I expected from an apartment-style place, and the staff actually seemed to know the neighborhood well enough to give decent recommendations (always a good sign).

What really won me over was how the place manages to feel both spacious and cozy at the same time. The apartments – and I stayed in a few different ones over multiple visits – have these high ceilings that make everything feel airy, but the furnishings are warm and lived-in rather than sterile hotel furniture. The kitchenettes are actually functional too, not just for show, which is perfect if you want to grab some pho ga from the morning vendor downstairs and eat it properly at a real table. Speaking of location, you’re literally a five-minute walk from Kim Lien market if you want to try cooking something local, and there’s this little coffee shop around the corner that does ca phe sua da better than most places in the Old Quarter – locals queue up there every morning around 7 AM. The Dong Da district gets overlooked by a lot of tourists, but it’s where you see actual Hanoi life happening. Plus, you can walk to the Temple of Literature in about fifteen minutes, or catch a xe om to Hoan Kiem Lake in ten.

The 8.8 rating makes total sense once you’ve been there – it’s not trying to be fancy, but everything just works the way it should. Hot water’s reliable (crucial in Vietnamese apartments), the air conditioning doesn’t sound like a helicopter, and the WiFi actually reaches every corner of the rooms. I particularly appreciated that they don’t blast you with artificial hotel hospitality but treat you more like a temporary neighbor, which feels much more authentic when you’re trying to get a real sense of the city. The only minor thing I’d mention is that the elevators are a bit slow during busy periods, but honestly, that’s pretty standard for residential buildings in this part of Hanoi. If you’re looking for that balance between having your own space and being in a genuinely local area – rather than staying in some international chain where you could be anywhere in the world – this place delivers exactly what it promises.

  It was a super pleasant stay and a very friendly hostess. She was always available and helped us whenever needed. It is a very nice building where you feel very safe. Definitely highly recommended.
  
  What could be improved: The location in itself was very good but a little further from the old quarter. We ourselves found that not a problem to take a grab.

  Very friendly Personal, everything you need. 15 minutes from old town with a Grab taxi for a couple of Dollars. For the Gym and Swimmingpool you have to pay extra but sometimes they let you for free if you only stay for one or two nights.

  It was very clean, modern, had a great fitness (with additional pay for 150000VD). The host was very nice, she left us some local fruits and water. Check in went smoothly even though we arrived at 1am.
