Casa Amarilla Boutique Apartment Overview
Okay, so Casa Amarilla caught me completely off guard – and I mean that in the best way possible. You know how sometimes you book a place based on photos and cross your fingers? Well, this little gem on Lê Đại Hành actually delivers. The name literally means “Yellow House” and honestly, when you’re walking down this quiet street in Hai Bà Trưng district, you’ll spot it immediately. It’s got this warm, welcoming vibe that makes you feel like you’ve stumbled onto something special rather than just another tourist accommodation.
What really got me was how thoughtfully everything’s put together here. The apartments – because that’s what they really are, proper apartments – have this boutique hotel polish but with actual personality. I’m talking real art on the walls, not generic hotel prints, and furnishings that someone clearly spent time selecting rather than ordering in bulk. The kitchen setup is actually functional too, which you can’t always count on in these places. You’re a five-minute walk from Vincom Bà Triệu if you need proper groceries, but honestly, the street food scene right in your neighborhood is fantastic. There’s this bánh mì lady who sets up her cart just two blocks over on Trần Khát Chân every morning around 7 AM – locals line up for her, which tells you everything you need to know.
The location is sort of perfectly positioned, if that makes sense. You’re close enough to the Old Quarter that a quick taxi ride gets you there in about ten minutes (longer during rush hour, obviously), but you’re tucked away in this residential area where you can actually hear yourself think. The Hai Bà Trưng district has this lived-in authenticity that I really appreciated – kids playing in the narrow streets, motorbikes parked everywhere, that constant hum of daily life that makes Hanoi so captivating. Bach Mai Hospital is nearby, which means the area has good infrastructure and plenty of late-night food options for the medical staff. The staff at Casa Amarilla clearly know their neighborhood too – they pointed me toward this incredible bún chả place that doesn’t even have a proper sign, just locals who’ve been going there for years. Check-in was refreshingly straightforward, none of that overly formal hotel ceremony, just genuine helpfulness. The 8.9 rating honestly feels about right – it’s not trying to be the Ritz, but for what it is, it really nails it.

Reviews of Casa Amarilla Boutique Apartment
Joyce from Singapore – 23 May 2025 (9/10)
Apartment is very convenient to road, have nearby mall & food places. Taxi/grab are able to reach direct. Spacious and clean. there is no staff at lobby but was able to reply fast and promptly. Worth the money, valuable for stay!
What could be improved: Wifi provided kinda lag & sometimes disconnect. Bring own if you can. Before we enter the house has quite a few mosquitoes, probably because previous stay open the windows/doors – Suggest to put electric fly killer machine.Christopher from United Kingdom – 15 May 2025 (9/10)
Excellent staff and very accommodating to needs and for payment. Great location very near a Fujimart and 30 mins from old quarter. Would recommend for the Japanese style bedrooms, but staircase somewhat steep. Great place overall!

Everyone raves about the Old Quarter, but I honestly wouldn’t stay there as it is too loud and hectic. Casa Amarilla is just a 2-3 euro Grab ride away from the main sights, but it is quiet, a safe heaven with a cute design and great cleanliness. Just around the corner, there is a mall with well known brands if you need anything. The owner, Chris, was very nice—he helped us exchange money and was always very responsive.
What could be improved: We had no issuesBungey from United Kingdom – 22 February 2025 (9/10)

Amazing place to stay…. highly recommended!!
Definitely worth every single penny!!Alessandro from Thailand – 26 January 2025 (9/10)
Very stylish, comfortable, good location and great value for money.
Very helpful owner and easy instructions to get in.
Definitely worth every penny and will be my first choice in Hanoi.
The only thing i would change would be the pillows…. I know I am very picky with that but they are too high for my taste.
For all the rest … enjoy your stay!
What could be improved: Sleeping pillows 🤭😂Winstonhl from Singapore – 3 December 2024 (8/10)
Clean n new plus located outside busy Hanoi
Several local street eateries n sit-in restaurants around.
Well equipped with modern amenities except for absence of kitchen cloth towel or paper towels.
What could be improved: Reminded me of Amalfi n Puglia, Italy “climbing” to apartment with luggages. No lift. Room was on 4th floor n with 20kg bags of winter clothes ( we were in cold Sapa before Hanoi ) , it was a challenge lugging the bags up. No mention of 4th floor room with no lift in the booking section. And bedrooms are another mezzanine floor up steep ladder inside the apartment. Japanese floor beds ie need to do judo rolls to get up. 🤣
We booked apartment specifically for 2 bedrooms but only 1 bed was set up. Agent/owner said they’d only make up 2nd bed upon request. Huh ??
Kitchen has no cloth towel or tissues to wipe off wet sink n table top. Think agent/owner/property is new so probably many aspects are still in learning work-in-progress state. If one requests, am sure they will attend to request. We stayed 2 nights n with 1 full day out away in Ninh Binh we made do with minimalist set up ie didn’t want to bother them.Liminns from Singapore – 2 December 2024 (8/10)
Very comfortable apartment, had everything that we needed. Location was good as it was not near to the central area of Hanoi, so it was quieter, but there was still food etc nearby the apartment. Apartment looked exactly like what the photos provided.
What could be improved: The steps up to the loft were a bit steep so it felt a bit scary, especially when coming down. Just need to take extra care.
Would be good if there were some shelving near the sink in the toilet to place our personal amenities.Mike from Netherlands – 19 November 2024 (9/10)
Super nice how it looked! Great location and entrance
What could be improved: There was a kitchen, however not enough kitchen gear. I would stack the kitchen a bit more. The running device was place weird, no need for that to be thereGabriël from Belgium – 30 September 2024 (9/10)
the appartment is very cosy and warm. Japanese style all the way! The bathroom is beautiful! i would def. come back to this place!
