FTE Ba Dinh Hotel Overview

You know what struck me first about FTE Ba Dinh Hotel? It’s tucked away on Buoi Street in this interesting pocket of Hanoi where the old residential Ba Dinh district kind of bleeds into the more touristy Tay Ho area. I mean, you’re technically in Ba Dinh but you can walk to West Lake in about ten minutes – honestly, it’s one of those spots that feels like you’ve discovered something locals haven’t told everyone about yet.

The hotel itself has that clean, contemporary Vietnamese hospitality thing down pat. Four stars feels right – it’s not trying to be the Metropole, but the staff actually remembers your name after day one, and the rooms have this solid, well-thought-out feel. The bathrooms are surprisingly spacious (you can actually move around without bumping into everything), and I loved that they’ve got these big windows that let in proper light. What really got me though was how quiet it stays at night. Buoi Street has some traffic during the day, sure, but by evening it settles into this nice neighborhood rhythm where you might hear a motorbike or two, but nothing that’ll keep you up. The air conditioning works properly too – and honestly, in Hanoi’s summer humidity, that’s not something you take for granted.

Here’s the thing about the location that I really appreciated: you’re close enough to the action but not drowning in it. Walk fifteen minutes toward the lake and you’ll hit all those lakeside cafes and restaurants that tourists love, but turn the other direction and you’re in proper Hanoi neighborhoods where people are just living their lives. There’s this little coffee shop about three blocks away where the owner makes incredible ca phe sua da and doesn’t speak much English, but somehow you’ll have the best conversation anyway. The hotel staff – and this is where that 8.9 rating makes sense – they’ll point you toward stuff like that if you ask. Not just the obvious tourist spots, but actual recommendations. I remember the front desk guy drawing me a little map to this pho place that’s apparently been run by the same family for thirty years. Check-in was smooth, no weird deposit drama, and they stored my luggage without any fuss when I arrived early. Little things, but they add up when you’re dealing with jet lag and just want things to work simply.

  Our stay at the FTE Ba Dinh Hotel was fantastic! The staff are very friendly, helpful and accommodating. The facilities such as the gym, pool and spa were all clean and easy to access. Our room was comfortable and clean and the food at the hotel was also delicious.
  
  What could be improved: It's not really something I didn't like, but it is something to take note of. When staying at this hotel, you will need a grab to go places such as Old Quarter.

  Excellent hotel – really great value with great facilities (pool, lounge space, gym), huge breakfast selection (a hit with the kids!) and a good location for exploring the city. We walked a lot, and enjoyed seeing the local area this way, but you could easily get a Grab around too. Comfortable and spacious rooms, a great start to our Vietnamese adventures.

  Excellent stay in Hanoi. The staff is 10/10 and very nice. The breakfast was great with all we needed. We loved the room and it was cleaned daily. We stayed for a total of 4 nights, giving us time to feel a bit more connected with Hanoi. Although we did not use it, the hotel provided discounts for customers on food, drinks and spa. Thanks to all the lovely people at FTE.
