You know what surprised me about Granda Central Apartment? It’s tucked away on this little lane off Dich Vong Hau Street – and I mean really tucked away. Lane 100 isn’t exactly where you’d expect to find a solid 4-star place, but honestly, that’s part of what makes it work. The Cau Giay district isn’t the touristy heart of Hanoi, which means you’re staying where actual locals live and work, and the prices reflect that in the best way possible.

The apartment itself feels more like borrowing a friend’s well-appointed place than staying in a hotel. I’m talking proper kitchen setup, not just a mini-fridge and kettle situation. The living spaces are generous – actually generous, not “generous for Asia” generous – and there’s this lived-in comfort that you don’t get in cookie-cutter hotels. The staff clearly know what they’re doing too; check-in was smooth, and they had this casual efficiency that suggested they’ve been doing this for a while. What really got me was how quiet it stays at night, even though you’re still very much in the city. Something about being on that smaller lane just buffers all the motorbike chaos that usually keeps you up in Hanoi.

Location-wise, well, you’re not going to stumble out the door into the Old Quarter, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. Cau Giay has this great mix of local coffee shops, proper restaurants (not just tourist spots), and you can actually navigate the streets without constantly dodging tour groups. Plus – and this is something I didn’t realize until I was there – you’re really close to some of Hanoi’s newer business areas, so if you’re mixing work with travel, it’s actually pretty ideal. The building itself sits in this interesting pocket where residential meets light commercial, so there’s always something happening but it never feels overwhelming. I’d honestly recommend this place to people who’ve maybe done the backpacker thing in Vietnam before and want something a bit more settled, or if you’re planning to stay in Hanoi for more than just a quick stopover. The 8.6 rating makes sense – it’s the kind of place where small details are handled well, but it’s not trying to be flashy about it.

  What could be improved: The bathroom was old and not really good equipted. The door from the bathroom got blocked and we cannot get in. Stuff were trying to help but it was blocked. Eventually we had to leave without some of our stuff which left locked in the bathroom.

  The bed was comfortable and the closet was huge. The room had laundry service. The student receptionist was helpful and friendly too.
  
  What could be improved: It was quite old, and I had to request for assistance to get the electricity going. No one was at the reception area during my checkout in the early morning too. But otherwise the apartment still delivered good service.

  What could be improved: the check in time is 1pm, but when we arrive at 3.30pm, the security told us that the room haven been clean up yet, there is a wall wood shelves near to toilet, when we go toilet at night, have been knock our head few time.
