Granda Hanoi Hotel & Apartment Overview

You know what really surprised me about Granda Hanoi Hotel? It’s tucked away in this quiet residential lane in Cau Giay district – I mean, you’d never stumble across it by accident, but that’s actually part of its charm. The moment you step off bustling Trung Kinh street into Lane 2, there’s this immediate shift from city chaos to something more… neighborhood-y, if that makes sense. The building itself has that modern Vietnamese hotel look (nothing too flashy), but honestly, it’s what’s inside that counts here.

The apartment-style rooms are genuinely spacious – not just hotel-brochure spacious, but actually roomy enough that you don’t feel like you’re living out of a suitcase. I particularly appreciated the kitchenette setup because, let’s face it, sometimes you just want to grab some bánh mì from the local spot and eat it properly at a table instead of perched on a bed. The staff here really knows their stuff too – they’re the kind of people who’ll draw you a little map showing the shortcut to the nearest metro station (Cau Giay station is maybe a 10-minute walk) and actually remember your name after day one. That 9-point rating isn’t just numbers on a screen; you can feel it in how smoothly everything runs.

What I really love about this location is how it puts you right in the middle of actual Hanoi life without the tourist crowd density of the Old Quarter. Trung Hoa ward has this great mix of local coffee shops, street food stalls, and those little convenience stores that stay open until ridiculous hours. You’re close enough to the action – Lotte Center and the diplomatic area are right there – but far enough from the motorbike symphony that you can actually sleep with the windows open some nights. The neighborhood has character, you know? Morning walks reveal office workers grabbing phở from the same vendor, kids heading to school, that whole rhythm of daily life that makes you feel less like a tourist and more like a temporary local. Sure, it’s not going to win any architecture awards, and you’ll need to taxi it to most major attractions, but there’s something refreshing about staying somewhere that feels less performative and more… real.

Reviews of Granda Hanoi Hotel & Apartment

  • Le from Vietnam – 22 February 2025 (8/10)

trải nghiệm khá ok, mọi thứ đều ok đúng như mô tả

  • John from France – 17 November 2024 (6/10)

Great location in a lovely leafy street with plenty of restaurants and very easy to get into the centre of Hanoi by bus. Check in was fast and they also let me in 2 hours early which was greatly appreciated. Price was excellent for the location and the bed was very comfy. Air con worked as it should.

What could be improved: Room needed a serious refresh – walls were dirty and pictures etc had been removed showing just hooks. The bathroom needed a really good clean – this is what really let the place down.

  • Barrington from Australia – 28 October 2023 (6/10)

What could be improved: The appliances (such as the fridge and airconditioning were very noisy making it hard to get a good sleep

  • Rob from Canada – 3 March 2023 (8/10)

The location was excellent and the staff were very courteous and respectful always and did the best they could to meet expectations. There was a restaurant called Pho Huong that served excellent chicken Pho that was not part of the hotel itself but was part of the building and also the same for the Siva Drrak Coffee shop it was attached to the building. I cannot comment on the coffee shop as I did not get a chance to go there. There is also a great restaurant called De Co Ba across the street from Granda Trung Hoa The room was clean, comfortable and quiet. Great location with a park nearby and I had an excellent view. Overall my stay was great but with one concern which I will mention in the next section.
I will stay here again as it was overall acceptable but I cannot give them a 10 rating at this time. Maybe next time if the owners follow the recommendation I will make in the next section. Overall the place was comfy and will stay again when in Hanoi.

What could be improved: My concern: for some reason the owners decided to renovate the room while I was in it even though I only had a couple of days left in Hanoi & it would have been much easier in my eyes to renovate the room when I was no longer in it. On Tuesday February 21, 2023(Hanoi Time) I was told to move my things outside For Friday February 24, 2023(Hanoi Time) because they were going to resurface the floor of the apartment. I mentioned that wouldn't it be better to wait until I was no longer in the room after Monday February 27, 2023(Hanoi time). I would be out of the room at 8:30 p.m. Monday February 27, 2023(Hanoi time) The room would be empty on Tuesday February 28, 2023 but they said the workers will be replacing the floor on Friday February 24, 2023. they would not listen so I did as requested & no workers showed up to do the floor as mentioned. I thought maybe they had decided to wait until after I checked out. That was not to be the case as on Sunday February 26th my day was disrupted with a loud knocking on the door. I was just getting out of the shower when I heard the loud knocking. I said in a voice that would carry to & thru the door "wait a minute". I quickly dried myself & got dressed and then answered the door. the receptionist was there and said the workers will resurface the floor today. I mentioned to the receptionist the same thing I had said earlier about waiting until I checked out and that no-one had showed up on Friday February 24th, 2023 and " I said "I was not happy with this unexpected, un-announced disruption to my day." Now I realize that we are all imperfect humans on a continual learning journey of improvement! That is why I am saying I would stay at this apartment again but with the recommendation that the owners wait until after people have checked out before renovating their room,( if they are tourists visiting Vietnam. & not long term residents.

    good customer service

  • Linh from Vietnam – 4 February 2023 (8/10)

We love that this hotel is very clean n everything seems very new and well kept. It has laundry machine free to our use and there’s a nice shopping mall near it. Staffs are very helpful and respectful and kind. I also learned later that it also has shuttle service that goes to many places (they have different schedules every day). Location is away from the hustling bustling of old quarter and Hoan Kiem district but a little closer if you’re going to airport I like Ms Nguyen, she is very nice can speak Japanese, English, and some Chinese

  • Jon from Japan – 18 December 2022 (9/10)

Nice room with a good kitchen and an excellent cleaning service and hotel staff.
