Honestly, I wasn’t expecting much when I first walked up to the Hanoi 22Land Cloud Hotel on Nguyen Thai Hoc Street – the name alone sounds like someone fed random words into a translator. But you know what? This place completely surprised me, and I mean that in the best way possible.

The location is actually pretty brilliant if you know Hanoi at all. You’re right in Ba Dinh district, which means you can walk to Ho Chi Minh’s Mausoleum in about ten minutes (though honestly, go early or you’ll be standing in line forever), and the Temple of Literature is just around the corner. What I really loved though was how quiet this stretch of Nguyen Thai Hoc gets at night – during the day there’s the usual motorbike symphony, but once evening hits, it’s surprisingly peaceful for central Hanoi. The staff seemed genuinely happy to see guests, not that forced hospitality thing you get sometimes. Check-in was smooth, and the guy at the front desk actually gave me solid recommendations for pho places that weren’t tourist traps.

The rooms themselves feel more boutique than your typical four-star setup. Mine had this interesting mix of modern fixtures with subtle Vietnamese touches – nothing too heavy-handed, just enough to remind you where you are. The bed was actually comfortable (not always a given in Vietnam, let’s be real), and the AC worked like a dream, which you’ll definitely need if you’re visiting between May and September. I appreciated the little details too – decent water pressure in the shower, blackout curtains that actually blocked light, and surprisingly good wifi throughout the building. The “cloud” part of the name started making sense when I realized how quiet and sort of floating-above-it-all the whole place felt, even though you’re smack in the middle of everything. There’s something about the way they’ve designed the common areas that makes the usual Hanoi chaos feel distant, if that makes sense.

What really sold me on this place was the breakfast situation – and I’m picky about hotel breakfast. They do this mix of Vietnamese and international options, but it’s not the usual sad continental spread. The pho they serve in the morning is legitimately good (I mean, it’s not street cart level, but it’s respectable), and they actually know how to make coffee properly. Plus, the rooftop area gives you decent views over the district without being too touristy about it. If you’re planning to stay here, book directly if possible – I noticed they sometimes throw in little perks that the booking sites don’t mention. Also, grab a room on the higher floors if you can; the street noise isn’t terrible, but the city views are worth it. This isn’t the fanciest place you’ll find in Hanoi, but it hits this sweet spot of being comfortable, well-located, and run by people who actually seem to care about what they’re doing.

  I really enjoyed my time staying here. All the hotel’s furniture is new and clean. The staff are very friendly and helpful, showing some places surrounding. It’s undoubtedly worth spending time here.
