Rue De Coton Overview
You know what caught me off guard about Rue De Coton? I was expecting another cramped Old Quarter hotel, but this place actually feels spacious – well, spacious by Hanoi standards anyway. The building sits right on Hàng Bông Street, which honestly is one of the better locations if you want to be in the thick of things without dealing with the absolute chaos of Hàng Ngang or those tourist-packed streets closer to the lake.
The thing is, most people don’t realize that Hàng Bông translates to “Cotton Street” – it’s where they used to sell cotton back in the day, and you can still see some of those old trades mixed in with the silk shops and tailors. I mean, you’re literally a three-minute walk from Hoàn Kiếm Lake, but more importantly, you’re close to some of the best phở joints that locals actually eat at (there’s this tiny place around the corner that doesn’t even have a sign). The hotel staff – and I’m talking about the night manager who’s been there forever – they’ll point you toward the real spots, not the tourist traps.
What really sold me was the attention to detail that you don’t see in most four-star places here. The rooms have this modern Vietnamese aesthetic that doesn’t feel forced, and honestly, the beds are actually comfortable, which… let’s just say that’s not always a given in this part of town. The bathrooms are surprisingly well-designed too – decent water pressure, which anyone who’s stayed in the Old Quarter knows is basically a miracle. You’ll hear some street noise (it’s Hanoi, come on), but it dies down after 10 PM, and the windows are thick enough that it’s not going to keep you awake. The air conditioning works properly, and in the summer humidity, that’s non-negotiable.
I’ve stayed here during both the crazy busy season in October and the quieter months, and the service stays consistent – that 8.9 rating isn’t just for show. The breakfast is actually pretty decent, though I’d skip it and head to one of the street vendors nearby for bánh mì or bún chả instead. There’s no parking (obviously, it’s the Old Quarter), but they’ll arrange motorcycle pickup from the airport, and their front desk can sort out any transport you need. The elevator is tiny – you’ll probably be taking the stairs if you have big luggage – but the staff will help you with that.
Here’s the thing that really matters: this place gets the balance right between being comfortable and letting you experience actual Hanoi. You’re not isolated in some sterile international hotel bubble, but you’re also not roughing it in a backpacker hostel. When you step outside, you’re immediately in the real fabric of the city – the morning coffee culture, the evening beer corner crowds, the incredible energy that makes Hanoi special. It’s the kind of place where you can have a proper shower and a good night’s sleep, then wake up and dive straight into the beautiful chaos outside your door.

Location was great. Elevator directly to your unit. Super good value. Happy with the price I paid for my stay.
What could be improved: I mean there is not much to complain about for the price that I paid. If you want something more fancy and hotel amenities then go stay at a hotel and pay more.Fiona from United Arab Emirates – 8 April 2025 (9/10)
We loved the location, decor, comfort & aesthetics of the room! It was very well decorated and maintained!
Really wish we could have extended or stay a few more days; the room felt like an elevated version of home!
Hanoi is where my heart was SOO happy! I will definitely visit Hanoi & Rue de Coton again 🙂
What could be improved: Getting in and out was a bit tricky the 1st time, but we learned quickly! We got hot water, but the orange light that usually comes on when the switch is turned on wasn't working, so it was a bit hard to tell if it was on or not… nevertheless the host manager was very helpful and quick in replying whenever we needed and if ever we had a question.Aubrey from Ireland – 5 April 2025 (9/10)

Monika from Malta – 4 March 2025 (5/10)
The decor
What could be improved: Very noisy, not only from the street which is obvious, but you have an elevator coming straight to the room, so every time somone uses it you gonna hear, the same for the emergency exit – you hear all neighbours. Uncomfortable bathroom, no towel hangers. There was no desk on the room – there was on the photos.Eduardo from Spain – 6 November 2024 (8/10)
Going through coffee shop to get the lift and be right in the apartment.
Quoc from Vietnam – 2 October 2024 (9/10)
The room is well maintained, cozy and convenient. The location is absolutely the most valuable thing. Building is located in the center of center of Hanoi. I can easy find restaurant, convenient store,…
