The location is one of those perfect accidents that happen in Hoan Kiem – you’re literally steps from the lake (I’m talking a genuine two-minute walk, not the “walking distance” nonsense some places claim), but tucked away enough that you’re not dealing with the constant motorbike symphony that can drive you crazy around the main tourist strips. Nam Ngư itself is this narrow street that feels almost residential, lined with those classic Hanoi shophouses where the ground floor sells everything from phở to phone cases. The building blends right in, which I actually love – no flashy signage screaming “tourist here!”

What really got me was the apartment setup itself. These aren’t your typical cramped hotel rooms with a bed shoved against a wall and nowhere to put your stuff. The spaces feel like someone actually lives there (in the best way), with proper kitchenettes that work, decent-sized windows that open to let in that Hanoi morning light, and – this is key – real soundproofing. I stayed during Tet preparations when the city was absolutely buzzing, and I could still get proper sleep. The furnishings hit that sweet spot between modern and comfortable without trying too hard to be Instagram-perfect. Everything’s clean and well-maintained, though I noticed some of the bathroom fixtures show minor wear – nothing that affects function, just honest signs of a place that’s actually used.

The staff situation is interesting because it feels more like having a helpful neighbor than dealing with hotel bureaucracy. Check-in was smooth, they know the neighborhood inside and out (seriously, ask them about the best bánh mì spot three blocks over), and they’re genuinely helpful without being hovering. They’ll tell you straight up that morning traffic on nearby Đinh Tiên Hoàng gets insane around 8 AM, or that the weekend night market two streets over is worth the walk but gets packed after 9 PM.

Here’s the thing – Hanoi can be overwhelming, especially if it’s your first time navigating the Old Quarter chaos. Having a base that’s connected to everything but not drowning in it makes a huge difference. You can walk to Hoan Kiem Lake for morning exercises with the locals, grab coffee at one of those tiny sidewalk setups, then come back to actually relax and regroup. The nearby streets have legitimate local food (not just tourist-menu versions), and you’re close enough to hit the main sights without needing to battle transportation constantly.

  Unbelievably perfect! I was a bit worried at first since it had so few reviews, but stepping into the room, I knew I worried for nothing!
  1. Facilities – Everything is new and well-maintained, with high-quality appliances. The washer and dryer are a huge plus!
  2. Space – Super spacious, with a living room, sofa, small kitchen, and a bar counter. Perfect for two people!
  3. Ambiance – Bright, cozy, and beautifully decorated.
  
  What could be improved: The only downside is the soundproofing isn’t great; the neighbors across the street start getting noisy early. But I wouldn’t blame this on the place itself.

  It's near the old quarter, easy to get there on foot within 20' and also easy to see other things nearby. An is always helps us whenever we need help with the apartment essentials or the staff sometimes, and she seems to be a hospitalized person.
  The staff who helped us with checking in on the first day were friendly and helpful. The cleaners are also responsible and they usually do a great job. The apartment is extremely perfect, since it's like what we saw in the pictures. Since we stayed for a bit more than 3 weeks, we looked for somewhere that offers easy ways to do laundry by ourselves since we don't like using the service. And their drying machine is the best we could ask for!
  
  What could be improved: The only thing we didn't like much is the security guy who came in at night. He often reminded me how I shouldn't get back later after 11pm or I should try to arrange my schedule to be back before this time. And tbh it's a bit annoying, I have stayed in plenty of places like this in Danang, Saigon, BMT etc for trips or just a long term stay and never had such a problem… That's the only thing we don't like and hope you guys can improve it! If we plan to come back to Hanoi anytime, we will definitely choose here!
