Hanoi Little Town Hotel Overview

Look, I’ve stayed in a lot of places in Hanoi’s Old Quarter, and honestly, most of them feel like they’re trying too hard to be something they’re not. But the Hanoi Little Town Hotel? It actually gets it right. You’re smack in the middle of everything on Hang Luoc Street – and I mean everything. Step outside and you’re literally thirty seconds from the weekend night market chaos, but here’s the thing nobody tells you: the hotel sits just far enough back that you’re not dealing with the constant honking and street food vendor calls at 6 AM.

The building itself has this narrow, typical Old Quarter feel – you know, those skinny Vietnamese townhouses that go up instead of out – but they’ve done something smart with the space. The lobby’s small but it doesn’t feel cramped, and the staff… well, they actually remember your name after day two, which is refreshing. I mean, the front desk guy knew I preferred my coffee black and had it ready before I even asked on my third morning. That’s the kind of attention that makes a difference when you’re jet-lagged and trying to figure out whether to hit the Temple of Literature or just wander around Hoan Kiem Lake again. Speaking of which, the lake’s about a four-minute walk – I timed it because I’m weird like that – and you can actually see a sliver of it from some of the higher floors if you crane your neck just right.

What really surprised me was how quiet it gets at night. You’d think being this central would mean zero sleep, but the rooms face an inner courtyard area, so you get this almost serene feeling once you close the door. The beds are firm (which I love, but some people hate), and they’ve got this rain shower setup that actually has decent water pressure – not always a given in the Old Quarter, trust me. The AC works without sounding like a freight train, which is basically a miracle in Vietnam’s humidity. You know what else? They get the little things right. Fresh towels that actually smell fresh, not like they’ve been sitting damp somewhere. Decent WiFi that doesn’t cut out every time someone uses the elevator. And the breakfast – it’s not elaborate, but the pho is legit good, and they do this Vietnamese coffee that’ll wake you up from a coma.

Is it perfect? Well, the elevator’s tiny and slow, so if you’re hauling big luggage or you’re claustrophobic, maybe take that into account. And during Tet or peak tourist season, the street outside can get pretty intense – but honestly, that’s part of the Old Quarter experience. You’re here for the energy, right? The staff knows all the good spots too – they steered me toward this incredible bun cha place on Hang Manh that I never would’ve found otherwise. That’s worth the price of admission right there.

Reviews of Hanoi Little Town Hotel

  • Abhimanyu from India – 6 June 2025 (8/10)

We got a comfortable, large room for a single night’s stopover at a low price, and it was just what we needed. Breakfast was good too. The staff was also helpful and friendly.

What could be improved: Just minor stuff – The bathroom was spacious, but was missing a shower curtain for the tub, and the hot water ran out before I could sufficiently fill the tub.
