PentStudio West Lake Hanoi Overview
Honestly, I wasn’t expecting much when I first pulled up to PentStudio West Lake Hanoi on Lac Long Quan street – I mean, it’s tucked away in this residential stretch of Tay Ho that most tourists never see. But you know what? That’s exactly what makes it special. The moment you step inside, there’s this immediate sense that you’ve found something the guidebooks haven’t ruined yet.
The studio setup is actually pretty clever – they’ve managed to pack everything you need into these compact spaces without making you feel like you’re living in a shoebox. The kitchenette is surprisingly functional (I actually cooked pho bo from the local market one morning), and the bathroom has one of those rainfall showerheads that makes you want to stay in there way too long. What really got me though was the attention to small details – proper blackout curtains that actually block the morning sun, USB ports exactly where you need them, and storage space that makes sense for someone living out of a suitcase. The Wi-Fi is solid too, which matters if you’re trying to work remotely or just want to video call home without those awkward frozen-face moments.
Location-wise, you’re about a ten-minute walk to the main West Lake area where all the expat cafes and weekend crowds gather, but far enough away that you get to experience actual neighborhood life. There’s this little com tam place two blocks down that opens at 6 AM – the owner remembers your order after three visits, and honestly, it’s better than anything you’ll find in the Old Quarter. The street gets a bit busy during rush hour since locals use it as a shortcut, but it quiets down completely by evening. Getting a taxi or Grab is never an issue, and you’re maybe 15 minutes from the chaos of downtown when you want it. I particularly loved the early morning walks around this part of Tay Ho – you’ll see locals doing tai chi by the lake edge, street vendors setting up their breakfast stalls, kids heading to school on the back of motorbikes. It’s the real Hanoi, not the tourist version.
The staff deserves a mention too – they’re genuinely helpful without being overly formal about it. Check-in was smooth, they gave me actual useful recommendations (not just the standard temple-and-museum list), and when my motorbike wouldn’t start one morning, the front desk guy just handed me his phone to call his mechanic friend. That kind of thing matters when you’re somewhere new. The only minor thing I’d mention is that the elevator can be a bit slow during busy times, but honestly, that’s pretty standard for smaller places in Hanoi. With a 9 rating, this place has clearly figured out how to make travelers feel settled rather than just accommodated – and in a city where you can easily get overwhelmed by the energy and noise, having a calm, well-designed base makes all the difference.

It’s stunning! Just like the pictures. It’s not too far out of old quarter but we used GRAB to get around and it’s so cheap. So it was perfect really, just make sure there’s a frying pan in the kitchen for the morning.
What could be improved: The swimming pool was under maintenance, staff didn’t understand English very wellDonald from United States – 10 January 2025 (9/10)

Everything! A beautiful place to stay, we were very comfortable here. Would definitely stay again if we’re back in Hanoi. Spacious rooms and a very comfortable bed.
What could be improved: Nothing – everything was great.Scott_minehane from Australia – 6 June 2024 (9/10)
Room, internet and staff are fabulous. Cleaning team is exceptional. I am treated very well including being provided with an ergonomic desk chair for use for my stay.
What could be improved: The closure of the downstairs restaurant is unfortunate as I loved their bun cha and it hardly to enjoy lunch there sometimes. I do hope a lunch or coffee place takes over the space soon!Daniel from New Zealand – 4 May 2024 (9/10)
The room was amazing value for money, large living / Kitchen area, and bathrooms and overall room quality was amazing.
Couldn't recommend generally staying here more if you're looking for a pretty luxurious stay within a good budget.
What could be improved: It's quite far away from the center of town and where everything is, it has general food options through Grab and within walking distance. It's quite a drive into town where all the activities are and most tours, though transportation is reasonably priced so if you don't mind catching a taxi/grab into town then it won't matter.Scott_minehane from Australia – 21 February 2024 (9/10)
Location is fabulous especially with the new Lotte Mall West Lake being opened. It is not in the old quarter but the space and hotel amenities like the internet and the availability of an ergonomic chair make it a preferred location for me in Hanoi. I would like to see a Nespresso machine in the rooms (I have to bring my own). All Staff including front desk and cleaning staff are helpful and friendly.
What could be improved: The normal chairs in the room are not made for larger size Westerners and are very flimsy. There was a problem with my TV which was finally fixed etc. There was actually a problem with Viettel's services over the Tet period so it was not the fault of the hotel.Igor from Russia – 11 January 2024 (9/10)
Excellent apartments – modernly designed, clean and super comfortable. Housekeeping staff doing their job very well. Pretty convenient that there is a Lottle mall within walking distance
What could be improved: Some staff at the reception are not helpful at allSyed from Australia – 8 January 2024 (9/10)

Location was far from old quarter but it was a nice hotel with all the facilities. We liked the place.
What could be improved: Nothing much to complain it was a good hotel. We had a good time there.Sauradeep from India – 27 December 2023 (9/10)
Room was spacious and all basic and extra amenities (washing machine and drier, refrigerator, all kitchen amenities, iron, etc.) were available. The concept of living room downstairs and bedroom upstairs was very nice. Very beautiful view from huge windows overlooking Hanoi.
Staff were very friendly and helpful. Madam Sen attached restaurant was very good and food was delicious.
What could be improved: Massage and spa was not available but they are building one centre soon.
Place was away from Hanoi Old Quarter (City centre)
