You know what struck me first about Hotel Emerald Waters Classy? The name’s a bit over the top, honestly, but the place itself is actually quite understated in the best way possible. It sits right on Gia Ngu Street – and if you know Hanoi’s Old Quarter at all, you’ll appreciate that this little stretch is just far enough from the chaos of Ta Hien (beer corner) to let you sleep, but close enough that you can stumble back from a night out without getting completely lost in those winding alleys. I mean, I’ve stayed in places right in the thick of it where motorbikes are honking at 6 AM, but here you get this perfect sweet spot of accessibility without the madness.

The staff – and this is where smaller hotels either make it or break it – actually remember your name after day one, which sounds simple but you’d be surprised how rare that is. They’ve got this way of anticipating what you need without hovering, if that makes sense. When I mentioned wanting to try bun cha (because, well, you have to), they didn’t just point me toward some tourist trap but gave me specific directions to this tiny place two streets over where locals actually eat. The rooms themselves feel more spacious than you’d expect for the Old Quarter – I had enough room to actually open my suitcase flat on the floor, which trust me, is not always a given in this part of town. The AC works properly too, and considering Hanoi’s humidity can hit you like a wall, that’s not negotiable.

What really sets this place apart though is how they handle the little things that matter when you’re jet-lagged and figuring out a new city. They’ll store your luggage without making you feel like you’re asking for a huge favor, and honestly, their breakfast setup – while not fancy – has actual Vietnamese options alongside the standard eggs and toast that most places serve to play it safe. The 9.3 rating makes sense when you add it all up: it’s not trying to be the flashiest place on the block, but everything works the way it should, the location gives you that authentic Hanoi experience without the headaches, and you end up feeling like you discovered something rather than just booked another generic room. Plus, and this might sound weird, but the elevator is actually reliable – after a long day of walking around temples and dodging motorbikes, you don’t want to climb four flights of narrow stairs.

  We loved everything about our stay! The room and bathroom were spotless and had everything we needed. The terrace was our favorite spot to hang out and unwind after a long day, it offered a lovely view of the Old Quarter. The location was great, with everything just a short walk away. The staff were incredibly kind, attentive, and always made sure we felt well taken care of. Breakfast was delicious and the perfect way to start each day. Honestly, we couldn’t have asked for more. A heartfelt thank you to Jennie and the entire team for making our time in Hanoi so special and memorable! 🙂

  The connection felt special right from the start – Nga (Jennie) reached out to us even before our travel dates to help plan and coordinate everything for a beautiful experience. It was our first time visiting Vietnam, and we were traveling as a large group of eight, so her proactive support meant a lot.
  
  From the moment we arrived, we were blown away by the excellent service and warm hospitality. The entire team went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable, and we felt genuinely welcomed at every step.
  
  The location is unbeatable, centrally placed and close to everything we needed. The rooms were stunning, spotlessly maintained, and offered the perfect blend of comfort and elegance.
  
  A special shout-out to Nga for making our experience truly exceptional! Her attentiveness, professionalism, and sincere care made all the difference. It was an experience we will always hold close to our hearts.

  One of the best stays we ever had. Do yourself the favor and book it when you’re in Hanoi. Everybody treats you the friendliest possible, breakfast is great as is the location. There is not one bad thing to say about staying here. For our last day of our 5 day stay we got upgraded to the suite for free which rounded the whole stay up perfectly. Many thanks to the great team and management here for making our stay absolutely fantastic 🙏

  This is my second stay here since my first time was so great. The location in Old Quarter and rooms are fantastic, but the staff makes this the best. Jennie and Cara at the front desk were amazing and took care of everything I needed – from booking taxis to airport, helping arrange day trips (at a discount to other companies) and making sure I arrived safely to the hotel late at night. Theyre amazing!

  The staff really make take your experience at this hotel to the next level. They are so kind and so friendly and genuinely invested in making your time there the best it can be. Also, rooms are nice, big and quiet. Beds are comfortable. Showers are hot and water pressure is great. Breakfast is also a hit. Would stay again and highly recommended.
