Look, I’ve stayed at my fair share of hotels in Hanoi’s Old Quarter, and honestly? JM Marvel Hotel & Spa on Hang Da Street surprised me in the best way possible. You know that feeling when you walk into a place and immediately think “okay, someone actually thought this through” – that’s what happened here. The lobby hits you with this perfect balance of modern Vietnamese design without trying too hard to be trendy, and the staff genuinely seemed happy to see guests (which, let’s be real, isn’t always the case in busy tourist areas).

What really got me was the location – I mean, Hang Da is right in the thick of things but not on one of those streets where motorbikes are honking at 6 AM. You’re literally a three-minute walk from Hoan Kiem Lake, which is perfect for those early morning walks before the city wakes up, and you can actually hear yourself think at night. The spa part isn’t just some afterthought either – they’ve got this whole setup that feels more like a proper wellness retreat than your typical hotel add-on. I actually ended up spending way more time there than I planned because, well, when was the last time you found a massage therapist in the Old Quarter who didn’t rush through everything? The rooms themselves are what I’d call “thoughtfully done” – not huge by Western standards, but everything has its place, the AC actually works (crucial in Hanoi summers), and the bathrooms have proper water pressure, which you can’t take for granted around here.

Here’s what I really appreciated though – the little things that show someone who runs this place actually travels themselves. The outlets are positioned where you’d actually want to charge your phone, there’s proper lighting for reading, and the breakfast setup changes slightly depending on whether it’s weekend or weekday (they noticed most business travelers want quick options on Monday mornings). You’re also right around the corner from some of the better local coffee spots that tourists usually miss – I’m talking about the places where office workers grab their morning ca phe sua da, not the Instagram-worthy cafes. The hotel staff will point you toward these spots if you ask, which tells you something about how they think about hospitality. At 9.5 rating, you’d expect something special, and honestly, it delivers on that without feeling stuffy or overly formal. It’s the kind of place where you’d bring your parents if they were visiting but also where you’d book for a work trip because you know everything will just… work.

  Comfortable room in central location. Staff were excellent, breakfast had a good variety of options. Nice rooftop bar. Despite the limited time we stayed (one night)they managed to have our laundry turned around very quickly.

  Staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful, I would like to shoutout Ms Hien Bui for her great food recommendations and willingness to help with our group requests. The Spa and massage were excellent as well, well worth taking the time for this too.

  he staff is well trained, polite and extremely helpful. Special mention to Trang Nguyen, and Dave who ensured that our stay was comfortable 🙂
  
  The Hotel is wonderfully located with most places one would want to visit being a quick walk away. There are coffee shops, 24hr supermarkets and eateries in the vicinity. The rooftop restaurant makes some wonderful cocktails and is a great place to get a relaxing dinner.
  
  Their Spa was also excellent and I would recommend a massage there for sure!

  What an amazing experience staying at the JMMarvel hotel. The highly appointed furnishiings were amazing but more outstanding was the wonderful service from the staff members. They were incredible, their attention to detail and wonderful caring nature and concern for our well-being exceeded all expectations ❤️
