Honestly, I wasn’t expecting much when I first pulled up to The Urban Tranquil on Trích Sài Street – the name sounds like marketing speak, you know? But walking through those doors, I actually got what they were going for. There’s something about this place that feels like a deep breath after navigating Hanoi’s beautiful chaos. The lobby has this warm, understated vibe with local artwork that doesn’t scream “tourist hotel,” and the staff genuinely seemed happy to see me, not just professionally polite.

What really sold me was the location – and I mean the actual, practical location, not just the fact that it’s in Tay Ho. You’re tucked into this quieter pocket of the district where you can actually hear yourself think, but you’re still close enough to walk to West Lake when you want that evening stroll (trust me, you will). The morning sounds are mostly birds and the occasional motorbike, which is practically silence by Hanoi standards. I loved that I could grab incredible street food just a few blocks away on Xuân Diệu, then come back to a space that felt like a proper retreat. The rooms are thoughtfully designed – not flashy, but everything works and the beds are actually comfortable, which isn’t always a given in Vietnam. The bathroom has one of those rainfall showers that doesn’t just trickle water, and there’s enough space to spread out your stuff without living out of a suitcase.

What surprised me most was how the hotel manages to feel both local and international without trying too hard at either. The breakfast includes Vietnamese options that are clearly made by someone who knows what they’re doing (the pho was better than some street stalls I’ve tried), but they also nail the Western basics if that’s what you need. The rooftop area – well, it’s not huge, but it’s got this view that makes you want to time your day around sunset. I ended up spending way more time up there than I planned, just watching the neighborhood come alive in the evenings. The whole experience felt authentic in a way that’s hard to find in hotels these days. Sure, it’s not the cheapest option in the area, but honestly? Sometimes you pay a little extra for a place that actually gets the balance right between comfort and character. If you’re the type who wants to experience Hanoi but also wants a place to properly recharge, this is your spot.

  Urban tranquil is a smart modern hotel and there are many options locally for breakfast pho or by the lake but not at the hotel . Linh and her team are especially attentive to assist with any needs like taxi to airport I took which was all perfectly arranged. It is a nice well-located hotel on the west lake .
  
  What could be improved: I learn y during the two weeks i stayed to appreciate the support on offer and enjoyed chatting to the reception staff about my tours and visits to museums and restaurants on the lake and in the old centre. There were no problems with any of the facilities at all and once I understood the best communication arrangements with staff I had no problem

  Modern, exceptionally clean, great size, great light, opening windows, directly opposite West Lake, beautiful staff and EXTREMELY comfortable beds!
  
  What could be improved: Not close to reasonably priced places to eat- required a Grab ride. Plenty of coffee shops tho

  Staff were super friendly, the hotel I had been in previously the staff were rude and the room was not as shown in the pictures, but here was lovely, it was super big and comfortable and clean and brilliant, honestly better than what I thought it would be and at a great price. Loved it.

  ThI mattress! By far and away the most comfortable mattress d I have slept on in my 5 weeks in Vietnam!!

  Nice staff, new decorations, fast WiFi, comfy bed.
  
  What could be improved: We stayed on the first floor, the fragrance they used in the room was too strong, it caused a headache. The room had mosquitoes, we killed a few, there’s another door next to the window, it’s not sealed well, there’s a gap at the bottom. And we could hear everything happen on the back street from early morning, motorbikes,talking, chicken, cutting food…

  It was really clean and the staff were really helpful
  Facility was super new and we were the first one to use it.
  
  What could be improved: we arrived late so the door was closed. we didn't know how to open the door and was confused about the bell. lock pad was on right but bell was on left so we were not sure. reception was not also there. but once they opened the door everything was pretty quick and we were really happy with everything.
