La Beaute Boutique Hotel & Spa Overview

You know what caught me off guard about La Beaute? The location is actually kind of brilliant in a way that isn’t immediately obvious. Sure, it’s tucked away on this narrow lane off Dinh Liet Street in the Old Quarter, but that’s exactly why it works. I mean, you’re literally a three-minute walk from Hoan Kiem Lake – I timed it because I’m that person – but you’re removed enough from the main tourist chaos that you can actually sleep at night. The first time I walked down Trung Yen Lane looking for the place, I honestly thought my GPS was broken because it felt too quiet to be in the heart of Hanoi, but there it was, this elegant little property that somehow manages to feel both boutique-fancy and genuinely Vietnamese.

The spa situation here is legit, and I say that as someone who’s been disappointed by hotel spas more times than I care to count. They’ve got this treatment room that overlooks a small courtyard, and honestly, getting a massage there after spending the day dodging motorbikes around Dong Xuan Market felt like the perfect antidote to Old Quarter madness. The rooms themselves are what you’d expect from a solid 4-star in this part of town – well-appointed without being flashy, with those nice touches like proper blackout curtains (crucial when you’re dealing with jet lag) and bathrooms that actually have decent water pressure. I stayed in one of their corner rooms on the third floor, and while the street view isn’t going to win any awards, you get these glimpses of daily Hanoi life that feel more authentic than staring at another tourist restaurant.

What really sold me on this place, though, was how the staff navigated that sweet spot between being helpful and not hovering. The front desk team actually knows the neighborhood – like, they sent me to this incredible pho place on Bat Dan Street that I never would have found otherwise, and when I mentioned wanting to avoid the weekend crowds at the Temple of Literature, they suggested the perfect timing. It’s that kind of local insight that makes the 8.5 rating make sense. Sure, the building itself isn’t going to blow you away architecturally, and the elevator is one of those tiny European-style ones that fits maybe two people and a small backpack, but the overall experience just works. Plus, and this might sound weird, but the lobby always smells like this subtle blend of lemongrass and something floral that I couldn’t quite place – it’s one of those details that sticks with you. If you’re looking for a place that gives you easy access to all the Old Quarter essentials without making you feel like you’re sleeping in the middle of a street food market, La Beaute hits that balance pretty well.

Reviews of La Beaute Boutique Hotel & Spa

  • Sarah from United Kingdom – 29 April 2025 (8/10)

    Great location, comfy bedding, clean,
    Really lovely helpful staff

What could be improved: Building work going on opposite through the night

  • Doug from United States – 20 April 2025 (7/10)

Quiet room down secluded alleyway, breakfast buffet & made to order food, pillows comfy. The day staff were friendly and helpful.
If you’re just there to sleep, it’s okay.

What could be improved: “Hotel AND SPA”, there is nothing “spa” about this hotel! Beds are VERY firm (not comfortable at all). the view thru the ornate window is a cement wall 5 inches away (the photo on the website is misleading, see my photo). The photo of the hotel entrance is also very misleading, the hotel is hidden 100m down a stinky alleyway filled with motor bikes (see my photo). There’s 3 rooms/floor and all doors are next to the elevator and the stairs, so you heard everyone coming & going.

  • Tom from United Kingdom – 30 March 2025 (9/10)

Location is really perfect. On a quiet enough backstreet but so close to all the action and amazing nearby food. The staff are extremely helpful and nice, and speak great English. Great recommendations for food and activities. Very comfortable room.

What could be improved: The bath/shower leaked so after my first shower, the floor was soaked. However we told staff this and while they were unable to move us due to the hotel being full, they were able to use their onsite engineer to fix the problem first thing the next morning. So it was dealt with quickly. Otherwise it would have been a faultless stay.

  • Zsuzsanna from Hungary – 16 March 2025 (9/10)

The hotel had a beautiful design and charming atmosphere. However, the most notable thing about the hotel was the staff who were always there to help with any questions. Especially Miss My Lee, who proactively took care of organising everything for us, so we could just relax and enjoy our holiday.

  • Jonathan from United Kingdom – 19 January 2025 (9/10)

Great location, great value for money. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Spotless room with a beautiful bathroom. Breakfast is a bit basic, but that is a minor issue.
