La Casa Hanoi Hotel Overview
So I’ve stayed at La Casa Hanoi a few times now, and honestly, it’s one of those places that grows on you. First time I walked in, I wasn’t blown away or anything – it’s a solid 4-star that feels like, well, a solid 4-star. But here’s the thing about this place: the location is actually pretty genius if you know Hanoi at all.
You’re on Pham Dinh Ho Street in Hai Ba Trung, which I know sounds like nowhere to tourists, but trust me on this – you’re perfectly positioned between the chaos of the Old Quarter and the more laid-back residential areas. I mean, you can walk to Hoan Kiem Lake in about 15 minutes, but you’re far enough away that you’re not dealing with the motorbike symphony at 6 AM that you get closer to the backpacker zone. The staff actually knows the neighborhood really well too, which is rarer than you’d think. Last time I was there, the front desk guy (spoke perfect English, by the way) gave me this route to a pho place that locals go to – down some alley I never would’ve found on my own.
The rooms are… look, they’re clean and comfortable, nothing fancy but everything works. Air conditioning is solid, which matters more than you think in Hanoi’s summer humidity. What I really appreciate is that they seem to have figured out the little things that drive travelers crazy – decent water pressure, outlets near the bed, and the WiFi actually reaches every corner of the room. The 7.6 rating makes sense to me because it’s not trying to be something it’s not. You know what I mean? It’s a well-run hotel that does the basics really well rather than promising luxury and delivering disappointment. The breakfast is pretty standard Vietnamese-meets-international fare, but their coffee is legitimately good, and the woman who runs the breakfast service (I think her name is Linh?) remembers how you like your eggs after a couple days.
One thing that surprised me was how quiet it gets at night – Hai Ba Trung district isn’t exactly sleepy, but this particular street doesn’t get much through traffic. You’ll hear the occasional motorbike, but it’s nothing like staying near the night market area. Check-in is usually smooth, though I’d recommend getting there before 8 PM if possible since the evening shift seems less experienced with the English-speaking guests. Honestly, for the price point and the fact that you’re getting a genuinely local neighborhood experience while still being walkable to all the tourist stuff, it’s a pretty smart choice. It’s not going to be the highlight of your Vietnam trip, but it’s the kind of place that just… works, you know? And sometimes that’s exactly what you need.

1. The breakfast was perhaps the most outstanding point, especially the crispy samosa.
2. The room size was okay. The pictures on the walls were We didn't feel that it was a significant upgrade.
3. The place was clean and well-kept. The pillow was not too soft–which I liked. :-))
What could be improved: 1. The lady manager was a bit too straightforward (= rude!) when my friend tried to ask her when was our late check-out time. She mentioned about us paying when we extended it to 3 pm.
2. The location wasn't too ideal at all. We had to walk about 35 minutes!! (BUT of course we could enjoy looking at the petite cafes along the way. :-))
3. The gym could have been bigger–with newer treadmills (the far one wasn't all that new).Jean from Australia – 30 April 2023 (9/10)
Good location and very clean. Pool restaurant had very tasty food. We had the fried sea bass, fried rice paper rolls and green mango and prawn salad all of which we highly recommend
Helen from Ireland – 7 December 2022 (8/10)
Extremely friendly staff, all very helpful. Nice walk into city centre
What could be improved: Issues with water pressure and lack of hot water in our taps and shower in room.Kristy from Australia – 10 September 2022 (9/10)
La Casa has an awesome roof top restaurant with an extensive menu and a gorgeous pool.
What could be improved: I could feel every spring in the bed in my room.
