La Renta Premier Hotel & Spa Hanoi Overview

Look, I’ll be honest – when I first walked up to La Renta Premier on Bat Dan Street, I wasn’t expecting much from the narrow Old Quarter frontage. But you know what? Sometimes the best places in Hanoi hide behind these unassuming facades, and this turned out to be one of those pleasant surprises that makes you feel a bit smug about finding it.

The thing about staying right here in Hoan Kiem is that you’re literally in the thick of everything – I mean, you step out the door and you’re already dodging motorbikes and following your nose toward whatever’s sizzling at the nearest street cart. The hotel sits on one of those classic Old Quarter streets where the buildings lean into each other like old friends sharing secrets, and honestly, the location couldn’t be better if you actually want to experience Hanoi rather than just pass through it. You’re maybe a five-minute walk from Hoan Kiem Lake (perfect for early morning coffee watching the tai chi crowd), and all those little alleys stuffed with bánh mì vendors and silk shops are right there waiting for you to get lost in them.

What really got me about La Renta Premier, though, was how they’ve managed to create this surprisingly serene bubble inside all the beautiful chaos outside. The spa – and I’m usually skeptical about hotel spas – actually knows what it’s doing, which is sort of miraculous when you consider you can hear the gentle hum of Hanoi street life just beyond the walls. The rooms are properly soundproofed (trust me, this matters in the Old Quarter), and they’ve got that modern Vietnamese aesthetic down pat without feeling like they’re trying too hard. The staff genuinely seems to get that foreign guests need a bit of hand-holding with the neighborhood – they’ll draw you little maps and explain which street food stalls won’t send you running for the pharmacy, that kind of thing. I mean, the check-in was smooth, the WiFi actually works, and the air conditioning doesn’t sound like a helicopter landing on your roof. Sometimes it’s the basics that make all the difference, you know? Sure, it’s not going to win any design awards, and the breakfast is decent but not mind-blowing, but there’s something to be said for a place that just… works. Especially when you’re dealing with the delightful sensory overload that is Old Quarter Hanoi – having a reliable, comfortable base where you can retreat and recharge between adventures feels pretty essential.

  • Bradley from United Kingdom – 30 January 2025 (7/10)

Good location, great value and friendly staff.

What could be improved: Advertised a sauna and steam room however was no sauna.
Also when leaving we were in a bit of a rush and when checking out as we needed to get on a coach, the staff member was very pushy and insistent for me to leave a review then and there. Felt forceful and not what I’d expect from a 5* hotel. Feel like this was very very poor, being asked to leave a review is fine but to be essentially forced into one in-front of them when you’re evidently in a hurry I wasn’t impressed at all.

  • Conrado from Philippines – 6 January 2025 (9/10)

It’s location allows you to move around Hanoi with ease. The rooms are clean and the service is very good. Breakfast was also good.

The location was great and the staff went over the top to book tours and recommend places to eat

What could be improved: Bed was a bit on the hard side for us
