I mean, we’re talking about a spot tucked into one of those narrow ngõ alleys in Dong Da – specifically Ngõ 65 off Phố Ô Đồng Lầm – and the location is actually pretty brilliant once you figure out the neighborhood rhythm.

The thing about staying in these Hanoi alleys is you’re getting the real deal, not some sanitized tourist bubble. You’ll hear the morning coffee vendors calling out around 6 AM (which is either charming or annoying depending on your jet lag situation), and there’s this incredible phở place literally two minutes’ walk that I stumbled across because the smell just pulls you in. The apartment itself feels like someone’s stylish relative set you up in their spare place – everything works, it’s genuinely clean, and that 9.7 rating makes sense when you realize how thoughtfully everything’s arranged. The lake view they promise? It’s there, and during those hazy Hanoi mornings it’s actually quite peaceful to watch the early exercisers doing their tai chi routines.

What I really appreciated was how the host clearly knows their stuff about what travelers actually need. There’s proper water pressure in the shower (not always a given), the Wi-Fi doesn’t cut out every ten minutes, and they’ve got this little kitchen setup that’s perfect if you want to grab some ingredients from the local market and try cooking Vietnamese-style. The Dong Da district isn’t where most first-time visitors end up, but that’s exactly why it works – you’re close enough to the Old Quarter (maybe 15 minutes by motorbike taxi) but you’re living where actual Hanoi people live. The nearby streets have that authentic buzz without the constant tourist hustle, and I found myself just wandering around in the evenings, discovering little family-run restaurants and coffee shops that don’t even have English signs. Fair warning though – the alley can be a bit tricky to find your first time, especially at night, so make sure you’ve got the exact address saved on your phone and maybe a backup plan for navigation.

  The lake view is so good. The host are very nice and helpful. The room is so wide and well-facilitated and I can do anything for my working and personal stuff. The greatest is that there is a washing machine and the place for hanging clothes. It is perfect for a business trip or even a travel with friends / family. I will re-book it when I come back Hanoi.

  Très bel appartement et trèsconfortable. Je recommande vraiment Le propriétaire et le personnel sont très accueillants et très arrangeant.

  Квартира большая, светлая, много окон и балкон. 2 спальни и большая гостиная-кухня, на которой можно готовить завтраки и ужины. Есть необходимый минимальны набор посуды.
  Квартира чистая, производилась уборка и смена полотенец.
  Лифт, охрана, недалеко большой супермаркет. До старого квартала можно пешком мин 20.
  Есть где выпить вкусный кофе и поесть.
  Нам понравилось, мы остались до конца нашего отпуска. Скоро отремонтируют набережную у озера и будет еще лучше)
  Так же хочу отметить доброжелательность и заботу владельцев. Мы заселились раньше и нам разрешили в последний день выехать позже без доп оплаты. Очень приятно, спасибо!
