Luxor Boutique Hotel Overview
You know what caught me off guard about the Luxor Boutique Hotel? It’s actually tucked away on To Hien Thanh street in a way that makes you feel like you’ve discovered something the tour groups haven’t found yet. I mean, Hai Ba Trung district isn’t exactly where most first-time visitors end up, but honestly – that’s part of what makes this place work so well.
The building itself has this understated elegance that doesn’t scream “look at me” from the street, which I appreciate. When you walk in, there’s this immediate sense that someone actually thought about the design instead of just throwing together whatever looked expensive. The lobby has these warm wood tones and local artwork that feels intentional, not like they raided a hotel supply catalog. Check-in was refreshingly smooth – no endless forms or pushy upselling, just efficient and friendly staff who seem to actually know the neighborhood. One thing I noticed right away was how quiet it gets once you’re inside, even though you’re still very much in the city. The rooms have proper soundproofing, which honestly makes all the difference when you’re trying to sleep off jet lag.
What really won me over was the location’s sweet spot factor. You’re close enough to the action that a quick motorbike ride gets you to the Old Quarter or around Hoan Kiem Lake in maybe 10-15 minutes, but far enough away that you’re not dealing with the constant honking and tourist chaos. There’s this great little coffee shop about two blocks down that serves incredible ca phe sua da, and I found myself walking there most mornings instead of staying for hotel breakfast – though to be fair, their breakfast spread was actually pretty decent for a boutique place. The neighborhood has that authentic Hanoi rhythm where locals are going about their daily routines, vendors are setting up their street stalls, and you can grab amazing banh mi or pho within a five-minute walk in any direction.
The rooms themselves feel more spacious than you’d expect from a boutique property – I had enough room to actually unpack and spread out, which isn’t always a given. The bathroom was modern without being sterile, and the shower had proper water pressure (travel enough in Southeast Asia and you’ll understand why this matters). One small thing that impressed me was the quality of the linens and towels – they clearly invest in the details that make a difference to your actual comfort. The AC worked efficiently without being noisy, and there were enough outlets positioned where you actually need them. Staff-wise, they strike that perfect balance of being helpful without hovering, and several people spoke excellent English. When I needed directions to a specific fabric market that wasn’t exactly tourist-central, the front desk guy drew me a little map and even called ahead to make sure they’d be open. That kind of genuine service is what elevates a good hotel to one you’d actually recommend to friends.

What could be improved: Breakfast can have more vegetarian optionsNandur from India – 26 May 2025 (9/10)
Good spacious room clean bathroom good courteous staff. Food was good but can be more extensive especially for vegetarians as my Wife is a vegetarian.
What could be improved: Language is a big issue as they know very less English… thanks to Google translate…Kitchen is not working in the night for dinner …no extra amenities like hobby room or recreation center … no cutlery kept in room .. no door mat outside or inside the bathroomAnna from Australia – 18 May 2025 (9/10)
Room was really big and comfortable, little bit out of Old Quarter but very nice neighbourhood.
Friendly staff, average breakfast. Good price.Renata from Brazil – 6 May 2025 (8/10)
The room was very spacious and, overall, very comfortable. The staff were extremely helpful, assisting us with all our questions and even booking a tour. The hotel is a bit older, but that wasn’t an issue for us. It’s located in a nice area, with plenty of coffee shops and restaurants nearby.
What could be improved: Though the area around the hotel is nice, it was a bit far from the city center. I had higher expectations for the breakfast—there weren’t many plant-based options (which is often a challenge and not unique to this hotel). Still, since Hanoi has so many amazing vegan options, I thought it would be easier to find more variety, even just in terms of fruits, bread, and spreads.Dewi from Indonesia – 1 May 2025 (9/10)

Huan from Germany – 8 March 2025 (9/10)
Spacious room, very comfortable beds. Nice area, you can easily walk to the lake. Breakfast at the rooftop restaurant was a great experience – very friendly and supportive cooks.
Darlene from Canada – 28 February 2025 (9/10)
Amazing breakfast, large comfy room. Staff were very accommodating, to the point that I mistakenly booked the wrong night and they were very gracious about it. I didn’t have to pay for my mistake and they welcomed us the next day. We would have stayed much longer but they were fully booked, and we can see why!
What could be improved: Our room faces the street, so we heard some traffic noise. It died down overnight, and as a sensitive sleeper I used earplugs and didn’t hear anything.Didier from France – 24 February 2025 (9/10)
This is an exceptional hotel, at a real nice price and located in a nice part of the city. The service was exceptional. The breakfast was included. I highly recommend.
